I have long hair, and enjoy showering. I also live where it is very cold and my ponytail has been known on numerous occasions to freeze rock hard. In these instances, would it be possible to snap or break it*?

* - Before you ask, no, I am not going to try, I love my hair too much, but I am curious.

Probably not. Keratin is highly durable. Probably not good for it, though, especially if your hair is saturated. I'd expect more general damage.

My hair, when its long enough, can slick back pretty nice and has gotten hard/forzen after a shower when going outside in the cold but never broken off.

I think it depends on whether or not your cold or warm blooded. I am warm blooded so the warm blood circulating through my hair will make sure it does not freeze and break. A slimy lizard like yourself though... well lets just say make sure you wear a hat when its cold.

I have seen a girl snap off a strand of her hair due to all the reckless crap she was putting in it to change the color. She had done something stupid along the lines of dying it, bleaching it out to get rid of the color, and then re-dying the bleached hair. It was crazy brittle after going through all that.
