Post-Game Talk: Can we leave Stu in a California Closet?

How much did they increase playoff tickets this year? I wonder if we will even get a sellout for games 3 and 4... Or are they already sold out?

Yeah I didn’t watch tonight either other than scoreboard watching.

Was a good feeling doing that.

I didn’t watch as few as you. But in years past I would watch close to 70-80 games a year

I bet this year I was around 30. That’s a massive drop.

I’m just not confident any of these guys get fired. Mostly because they just got hired….

They should be but does Katz have the stones? He’s a weird dude to gauge.

I ain’t even mad after tonight. 5 years ago I probably would have had trouble sleeping

Personally I’ve switched more to enjoying the NFL.

I never bet against mcdrai. But this just isn’t the year I don’t think.
More and more people are going to be like this.

The most valuable commodity that can be sold in this world is "Hope"

When you see no hope, you become less emotionally attached and less interested.

Obviously I want 97 to sign here, but imagine he didn't? I swear I have have to take a full 2 years off at least and just bandwagon if they make the playoffs and do anything there. The investment of time would be gone from me.

This management group, albeit a small sample size, have done years of damage already.

I think its a toss up between the goalie and the defence.

I mean right now the teams defence isnt even playoff caliber.

I agree with others that have suggested the series would be 1-1 with Pickard in net. Even if it was the coach having a pulse on the game and pulling Skinner before the Kings score the 5th goal.

They'd still be cooked, but it would be a respectable series. This is not

I swear Elizabeth May could flip Alberta Green if she could find a way to get Hellebuyck on the Oilers.

Maybe we can find a team dumb enough to take Skinner and Bouchard off our hands this summer for a package of players that can actually play defense and stop a puck? The idea of locking up Bouchard long term for $10 mil/per with a NMC gives me sleepless nights!! :dunno:

You cannot give Bouch that much money. Cap hell.

This guy is basically what .... this era's Tyson Barrie?
Like .. 5-6, or trade.

Its not sold out as we speak, either game. It sure isn't going to be after these two games. The fans are sensing a lot is off this season and people I talk to haven't been thrilled since the offseason. There hasn't been the euphoria this time around.

Oilers can still come back but it would be winning the battle and losing the war. At best this is now a long series. At worst a short one.

Been saying since his 2nd year
Nuge is not a C you can count on
f*** you can’t even count on him to be a decent winger either. His apologists will point to outlier season but this is one of the softest players on the team without an ounce of aggression.

Literally a clock in clock out player
Nuge has played like crap since his 100+ point season. He really mailed it in this past regular season!

It's not the only thing Redditors are delusional about

They were also cheerleading a certain someone doing his media darling shtick at the team's expense a couple months ago
Reddit is an left wing echo chamber, of course if it was Poilievre they would have hated it. This organization shouldn't be giving any politicians photo ops.

As bad as Skinner has been, a switch in goaltending isn't going to mask the atrocious defending. Let's be real, these clowns might get schooled by a junior B team at this point. Missed assignments all over the ice, guys chasing where they don't have to, and out of position when they shouldn't be, making really piss poor puck management choices like passes through heavy traffic and no lanes through, floating pizzas up to no man's land and having it turned up quickly into a HDSC sequence, losing races to pucks and getting beaten along the boards.. how the f*** are these guys NHL level players? How did they forget all the alleged lessons they should have learnt from the previous year's playoff run?

WE were both in a difficult spot after TDL and management saying goaltending is set. I mean you cheer for the team but still while knowing the goaltending is horrible. We have basically a backup, if that, and thats it. its long been my take that I even question Skinner being an NHL goalie on his basic skillsets. he shouldn't even be here. Only reason he is being Woody and Schwartz. Woody still screwing us years later and of course Dustin still with a job..

The nice thing I guess is I haven't been nearly as emotionally invested in the playoffs thus far. Kind of knew this would happen if we started with Skinner.

And I'm with you. From positioning, reading the play, athleticism, playing the puck, reaction time, lateral movement, rebound control... Like pick any of the categories of the position and it's hard to argue he isn't below average.

It's honestly hard to understand why he's even here.

I think for me having the series 1-1 right now is just delaying the inevitable.

When you get your ass handed to you by LA in every aspect of the game for 2 games in a row thats a very bad indicator.

There is just so much going wrong out there...so many players making bad decisions with and without the puck.
I also see an LA team that is really well coached and put together a game plan that this team hasnt adjusted to at all. Especially on Special teams which is this teams bread and butter.
LA is absolutely dominating on the PK and PP.
I see no way they can overcome all of that in this series in a couple of days.

Game 82 was McD declining on the fistpump. Skinner was all thrilled he got a shutout against an AHL Sharks club and Skinner is fistbumping everybody in a conga line like he's a hero. McD skates up, looks away, and skates away. he gave him the slightest of touches.

In THIS game McD is waiting at games end for Pickard to come off ice. he immediately goes to him and pats him and says something. I would imagine saying thanks, its your net.
Yup I clearly remember that too, what a dufous of a looser

It's f***ing wild to me. Talking to everyone at the golf course today about the game and I was saying how Skinner better not be useless again and I got pushback from everyone, defending Stu. f***ing crazy to me.

Can tell the people who just listen to the media in this town, who constantly glaze that slug in net and never call him out. They have the average fan fooled into thinking this guy can play. Like, have they not seen this guy just attempt to move in net? It's an embarrassment.
I said it in the game 1 thread. My friends from MTL, TO, VAN are all nice guys in person. They actually aren't the type who razz you over text or in person.

The past 2 years they always say "geez , why don't you guys get a goalie? We don't want you to as a rival but you guys should have won a cup already".

I mean, sure .... fine.
I respect that you feel that way.

I appreciate that. But like, how else is one supposed to feel?

There are 62 spots and his average ranks for the top goaltending metrics is outside of that. I'm sure he's a great guy and I wish him well, but we're trying to win a pro sports championship, not have a good Thursday night with the boys at our beer league game.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's just something his sports psychologist told him to do. Smile when you have negative thoughts or feel overwhelmed. I honestly feel sorry for Stu here and I wish him well on a fresh start with a new franchise. It was time to move on from him in November when he was actively costing us games.

He should never dress in an Oiler jersey again, not just for the sake of our team's success, but also for his mental health.

I have a feeling he won't be very long for this league.

Anyone who isn’t an Oiler fan or media knows Skinner is a terrible goalie.
