I would like (with my homer colored glasses) to see a Kovalchuck/Prokhorkin/Scherbak line. They are all skilled and 6'2" or over.
Scherbak is slight but if he could pack on 10 lbs. of muscle...... I watched him with the Reign. He seemed to get injured when taking a heavy check and seemed unsure how to handle things when confronted physically. Even with that his skill definitely showed through.
Kovalchuck and Prokhorkin already have some chemistry. Maybe as a third line?
I feel like this is somehow wrong but how wrong am I.....?

Prokhorkin - Amadio - Kovalchuk as a 3rd line would be pretty nice if Kempe is moved to 2C and Carter to RW..

If this means they will show Scherbak's girl more on TV then I am ok with it. But I think Nikita's contract is up and he's likely KHL bound.
Meh, you still have Kovalchuk's wife as a backup.

Yeah I'd keep Scherbak around for his GF but that's about it. Theres just too many bottom 6 options unless the Kings just managed to go scorched earth after the draft then he'd be a nice top 6 option. I think he's gone along with Leipsic unfortunately.

Or sign Voynov and get Sharipzyanov to come back. Budget Russian 5.

I can´t figure out why so many fans think players from the same country should be on the same line. As soon as some European is discussed it is countdown until someone suggests a line where they are paired with a countryman.

i hate to say it but kempe as a 2c doesnt scare anyone

kings need a real 2c more than anything else
Dude, I've been screaming taht Kempe is a LW and a emergency C at best.. I could see us going Kopi, Carts, Proks and Amadio down the middle..

unless carter turns it around too then we have a hole at 2c and 3c

It worked for the Red Wings.

A Carter rebound at 2C is not 'the plan' Blake has been speaking about and TM on board with it. He specifically said at the TM conference, that "we have to be better at second center" two times he said that...it you really believe the organization is banking on the worst 2C in the NHL rebounding at 2C at 35 years of age, you're mistaken. The plan is to have a capable 2C. Just have to see how the plan transpires.

carter wasn't even a 3c... he was an elite 4c, points-wise, this season. granted a lot of the guys listed at c don't play c (sam reinhart? gustav nyquist? ryan dzingel? clayton keller? MATS ZUCCARELLO?! get out of my face)

so really that catapults him into very low end 3c. very, very low end

Kempe - Kopitar - Brown
Kovalchuk - Prokhorkin - Kupari
Iafallo - Amadio - Grundstrom
Clifford - JAD - Wagner

That would probably be the worst 2nd line in the league, depending on what Ottawa throws out there next season. A washed up former star, a 19 year old rookie and whatever Prohorkin turns into.

I guess it's good in that the Kings will be picking top-5 again with that lineup, but not sure being around so much losing is beneficial to guys like JAD and Kupari.

I would still rather have Kupari play another year in Finland. He could probably use it and if he is a bigtime prospect it will be nice to get 3 good years (20, 21, 22) on an ELC for a potential playoff team instead of 2 by throwing away this year.

Kupari should not be on the NHL roster to start next season. That's a good way to ruin the development of what might be a key piece of the Kings future.

All the kids should spend time in Ontario this season, period..

Vilardi if healthy
JAD
Kupari
Grundstrom
Anderson
Brickley
Clague
Phillips
Durzi
Strand
Thats possibly 10 guys on ELCs that could debut wintin the next 2 seasons... they need to get accustomed to playing together..

The nostalgic memories of Vladimir Tsyplakov, Dmitri Khristich, and Vitali Yachmenev flying down the ice in formation and not scoring...

I'll admit, I'm a sucker for gimmick lines so when Mats Zuccarello was coming up in trade rumors I had a Norway, Sweden, and Finland line with Kempe and Kupari in my head.

Dustin Brown, Connor Brown, and Logan Brown...

Mark Stone, Cody Glass, and Sam Steel...

If he's open to it, might make more sense to transition him to the AHL to get comfortable with the system, smaller ice surface, teammates, and the U.S. culture for a year instead.

In his draft year he played in the Finnish league against men then this past year he was at nearly a point a game pace there. At this point letting him round out his game nearby in Ontario where management can watch and guide further development is better.

And I could be wrong, but I'm about 90% sure the way you think a year burns off on the ELC is wrong. When you sign a player at 18 specifically you can apparently slide it until 20 as long as they are not in the NHL. The team did that with Voynov years back and I remember it threw me off when I saw it, but the wording is in the CBA guide.

I think you’re right on the ELC part for junior aged players in the AHL. So would he have to play 10 NHL games for a year to be burned off like with CHL players or is it different?
