I would bet the large majority of fans share my opinion.

Yes, there are many who are more a fan of a hockey team, and don’t watch if their team isn’t playing. Certainly you don’t care as much and the excitement level isn’t the same, but I still enjoy watching competitive playoff games not involving my team.

Seeing the Oilers get swept in the SCF by anyone…would bring me great joy.

This definitely depends on who was holding the broom

So, if you skew the statistics a certain way, and ignore a swath of games, EDM is one of the two top teams in the league?

On top of that, I, as someone who doesn't live anywhere near, or have any connection with EDM, should cheer for a team that has had four #1 draft choices in the past 15 years, as well as a raft of other top draft picks? When my team has never had a #1 draft pick in it's entire history?

Hooboy, hold my back... can't wait to jump on that bandwagon.

Exactly what I was thinking. If EDM is not your team I’m guessing a lot of fans would have them high on a list of teams they don’t want to see…perhaps for casual Cdn fans they’d take them over a US team though. For the league, I can’t imagine their dream would be either of these teams.

With WSH, if OV didn’t already have a cup I think a ton of fans would want to see it, but that’s not the case

If Habs don't make playoffs, In the east I'd want to see WSH because of Ovi. Wouldn't mind Panthers either (they play fun brand of hockey, very entertaining)

Leafs Oilers final would be peak entertainment for everyone but southern usa

At least fans are very, very deserving of seeing their team go to the Stanley Cup final, but I'm sorry, I really can't stand the idea of watching them in the finals.

Even when the Leafs are the worst team in the league, Sportsnet or TSN needs to talk about Toronto 10 times more than every team.

If the Leafs made it to the Stanley Cup finals, TSN would just instantly change their name to the Toronto Maple leaf Network.

Sportsnet usually isn't so bad for talking about Toronto as much, but you know there's so many Toronto fans tuning in that every sports channel in Canada would have turned into the Toronto Maple leaf sports Network.

Doesn't matter what sport you're watching during every single intermission they'd let you know if Austin Matthews cut himself shaving in the morning.

You can unskew the statistics and it's still #1 vs #4. Not an unlikely matchup.
