Since October 14th, the best NHL teams are:
1. Washington (.755)
2. Edmonton (.700)

Since November 23rd, the best NHL teams are:
1. Washington
1. Edmonton
(tied at .759)

A Washington - Edmonton Cup Final would be so great that Gary Bettman and the NHL marketing team would basically lose all semblance of bladder control and also begin dropping tears of joy. Not only that, but it would be very dramatic for actual hockey fans.

McDavid & Draisaitl's time to break through... vs. Ovie's last chance (probably) to get a late-career Cup.

Would be great.

Fans: You get two of the highest scoring teams in the league (2nd and 6th in goals/game). Should make for some entertaining hockey.

League: I don’t even know how this is a question, even from a Pens fan.

- Two of the most (if not the two most) marketable players in the league right now facing off against each other in Ovi/McDavid.

- Ovechkin coming off what may be the all time record in goals a few months prior which will draw more non-hockey eyes than any story in the last few decades. His name alone in the SCF will be a monster draw for the League. As would McDavid’s in general.

- Storylines galore with Old Man Ovi going for another Cup/Smythe, McDavid finally getting over the hump as the best player in the world, Edmonton returning to glory after decades of despair, Capitals somehow winning despite everybody assuming they’d be in tank/rebuild mode, etc.

Exactly what I was thinking. If EDM is not your team I’m guessing a lot of fans would have them high on a list of teams they don’t want to see…perhaps for casual Cdn fans they’d take them over a US team though. For the league, I can’t imagine their dream would be either of these teams.

With WSH, if OV didn’t already have a cup I think a ton of fans would want to see it, but that’s not the case

Ovi with a bookend cup with the record would be sick. I’d rather someone than Edmonton though as the opponent. Still think the West goes through Dallas or Vegas but Oilers are obviously still a viable option
 
Washington is a strange success story after getting caved by the rangers last year. And now the rangers are in no man's land. I don't think they get through Florida, new jersey, or *gasp* Toronto.

That's wrong, Toronto is #Canada'sTeam and everybody in Canada deeply cares about and is invested in their success.
