Post-Game Talk: Can we Clone the game for tomorrow?

Pretty quiet game from Philp. Only thing I really caught was him coming into the zone and trying a wrister through a defender, that gets blocked, and we lose possession. He's gotta hold onto that puck, we don't throw low percentage stuff like that. Drive low, hold it, create a possession for your 4th line shift.

I'm not sure that is attributable to pro scouting, apparently we acquired Podz on the basis of our head amateur scout really liking him and I would presume Knob had the biggest say with regards to Emberson having coached him in the AHL.

The pickups I'd attribute to our pro scouts are J. Brown, J. Skinner, and Arvidsson.

Which is pretty underwhelming like usual.

Josh Brown is almost completely useless back there especially if he doesn’t know how to execute his role without taking dumb penalties.

Arvidsson comes as advertised. Hyman lite with a bit more speed and puck handling ability, but comes at the cost of size and durability. Overall he’ll be fine, he’ll have the odd transcendent game but most will be just good possession numbers.

Which brings us to Jeff Skinner which is an absolute enigma to me. When the signing occurred I thought he could be a great trigger man for Draisaitl or McDavid, but clearly that’s not on the cards. He’s in a checking role which he predictably isn’t proficient at. So my honest opinion is if we’re not willing to give him a 5-10 game run on the top 6, then just get the contract off the books. Open up his cap room for use at the TDL.

Back to back games the two best players in the league are lucky to escape serious injury. Both times refs are looking right at the play. Meanwhile Gary is laughing from his couch. Just when I thought it was impossible to hate this league even more, they prove me wrong.

Yeah, but what you're missing is that if you slow the previous play down to 0.25× and watch it 5 times, you can see that McDavid's elbow barely clips Johansson, so it's justified for Hartman to use MMA techniques to throw guys head first into the ice without a helmet and then cross-check them while they're down.

Really Draisaitl should have gotten a penalty for not getting injured, tbh.

Only took like 5 years but we might have finally put the Minnesota Wild Curse to bed!

Picks was great. Lots of huge saves.

McD 3 Pts.

More Podzduction. He deserves it, he plays the right way.

Nuge was Huge again.

Not our best team performance, but we outscored our problems tonight and Picks held the fort.

5 years? They’ve owned us since like December 2005.😵 I think it was a pair of 0-4 and 1-4 losses that turned the tide. Before that we owned them since their inaugural season.

I guess if you ignore all the good moves the pro scouting looks worse

Elite snipe by McDavid to ice this one. Maybe this cools some of that “we should have drafted Gustafsson” talk. Pickard outplayed him in probably his best game as an Oiler.

I'm glad McDavid gave that puke a little what-for. The only regret is that it wasn't this pos Hartman on the receiving end. That guy has it coming.

My favorite part of last night was hearing Debrusk trying to downplay the slewfoot on Draisaitl. Saying he just touched his skate and it wasnt from the back so it wasnt dangerous. Im so done listening to that neanderthal stroke of the other team, why are we the only team in the league that has a color guy cheering for the other team?

Louie Debrusk is a clown, I cant wait for him to never commentate another Oilers game.

Nuge should always be centering his own line. He is way more valuable to this team playing C

Yeah, that was hilarious. Not like other players including Hyman don't deserve it more. Typical Sportsnet panel.
or how they kept mentioning (especially that f**k nugget Faizel, in the post-game) that the Oilers are FINALLY playing to expectations recently...They've been the best team in the NHL for the past 2 1/2 months!

Those Maple Leaf ball garglers at Sportsnet never fail to piss me off as they fart nonsense through their faceholes.

Yeah, STFU Middleton. How about you look at your buddy Hartman who injured Bouchard last time both teams met and him slewfooting Draisaitl tonight. Cry more, f***ing p***y.

Also, if an Oilers player called out officiating like this this you know they're getting fined and the refs will go even further out of their way to not call things against the Oil. We saw it for years after McDavid showed up whatever that p***y refs name was for pointing upstairs. League should be fining Middleton for being a huge bitch and whining about officiating. Which, we all know they never do.

It's like saying "I don't care if he's the best player in the world", is a get out of jail free card for these f***s. McDavid then should be able to say, "i don't care if he's a piece of shit 4th liner, who doesn't even deserve league min, you gotta call that on him."

I've said many times before. Going to a 2 ref system sent the system into serious decline.

Expansion has not only meant a shortage of players but a shortage of capable refs. There doesn't seem to be enough to go around.

The whole Minnesota organization (players, coaches, media) were selling a message of we should have won and each had their own reason as to why. I chalk it up to them reeling from numerous injuries and trying to be positive after racking up numerous losses against the top teams in the Western Conference.

The Wild leaning in to this nonsense with him "being injured" is extra pathetic. Especially still employing serial slewfooter Ryan Hartman.
Pathetic display by the player. Should be playing soccer in Europe with shit like this. Minny (they hate being called that) employs human garbage like Hartman so it's just too bad this f***er didn't actually get hurt worse. Balls of a church mouse.

Playing the style Minny plays and employing the pieces of shit they do and then whining about officiating? f*** out of here. f*** around and find out Minny you f***ing pretenders.

Josh Brown ragdolling one guy isn’t going to stop anyone else from taking their shots at Draisaitl or Bouchard. The dirty players are gonna do what they do.
Jesus Christ, what a stupid philosophy towards a contract sport. Just let the opposition run wild and do whatever they want to our stars eh? Obviously you never played the game.
