I think Rejean doesn't actually really like the flames, he just really obsessively hates the oil.

The Pods goal was an own goal btw. heh. He wasn't even shooting at net. just saying.

I like Pods but the goal is something that just happens in hockey. He's having some trouble scoring. He brought a reasonable strong game though.

I thought Philps was nervous in first period in this one but settled in and had some moments. Gotta be tough coming into the Pros and the opposition is the Wild at home and they love to hammer rookies into the middle of next week. Kinda noticed at times the Oilers weren't always making cute plays out there. Was the type of game where you could get your bell rung watching a pass.

Games like this you're happy to get to the bench in one piece. Some hellacious hits.
Podz is up to 3 goals, 4pts in 7 games this month. He's picking it up, and throwing it into the middle is the right play there. You gotta be good to be lucky.

I tried to key in on Philp tonight as I have been calling for him to get another shot. I didn't see him as nervous at all. The opposite rather, looked comfortable and engaged all over the ice. I might have noticed a cycle or 2 with Perry where communication looked off, but its his first game back with these guys, that stuff will get ironed out in practice and in time. I'll go out on a limb and say we don't need to grab a 4c, I think he looked great.

Nice win. Pickard was an awesome

Matt Boldy sure is a stud. Heck of player
Seems like he has all the intangibles as well. Stuff that maybe doesn't show up on analytics type assessments. Guy seems to have a burning desire to be everything he can be. Rossi too. An ingredient harder to quantify but what I'd term "Won't be denied". How do we miss a kid like that in Western Canada? I like his game.

Nah I just said Philps looked uncomfortable in first and that he settled in fine in what had to be a very difficult place to play and get acquainted. The Wild are the most likely team in the NHL to be hard on rookie opponents. Its like Wild Wild west (pun). Man in this game even vets were a bit nervous out there. I like Philps plenty. He made some savvy plays and reads as game progressed. I think he's a player.

Podz does so much small stuff that helps the oilers stars get and keep the puck.

If he could finish he wouldnt be here on a 1m contract.

And speaking of hits, Emberson is a beast taking that hit from Jones and getting up and not even being upset about it, he understands the game.

They mentioned in telecast Emberson takes as many hits as anybody. Interesting in that he takes all those hits to make plays. Sure sign of a player that is all in, and also willing wait for the breakout to spring and having composure with puck rather than just bang it off boards. I've loved Emberson. Pods does do a lot as well and work gets rewarded. for sure he's been value filling in where a lot of players cannot.

We’re trying to win a hockey game and had already given up 2 PP goals. The last thing we needed was him being undisciplined taking a penalty trying to scrap someone.

Super easy to do when we are up 2 goals. This team needs some toughness asap. Teams are going to seriously hurt our stars. They have tried multiple times lately. It’s embarrassing.

He can for sure grab them and fight them. Super easy. He just has to grow a pair.
Brown tried to do exactly that. he engaged Trenin who shook off and skated away. It wasn't in a corner where you can more easily make a guy fight. Trenin booted it. he drew the call. I think Brown might be getting too heavily criticized just on the one play. he had a good game. KK saw it differently too as he kept playing Brown who didn't look out of place as a D against one of the hardest forechecks in the league.

In a close game where points matter to us?

The dumb thing for him would be to take another penalty.

His first penalty was dumb enough. You'd rather we be shorthanded 5 minutes because he grew a pair?

I honestly thought brown had a solid enough game, I just dont think him and Nurse work well together.

Podz is turning into a guy that you notice every game. It's not Mc-D talent or anything like that but it seems to be effective.

Credit to Oiler management for getting good value contracts for Podz, Emberson and (tonight) Picard.
I think Podkolzin will be even more effective when Kane is in the lineup.

He'll have another player willing to go to war with him.

No he was our worst dman by a mile.
He was okay. 17:25 & some PK time. Long leash from the coach who's had a tendency to play a top 4 d and cutdown minutes for their #5 (Emberson) and #6 (Stetcher or Brown). The #6 has been around 10 - 14 minute toi with Kulak Nurse utilized for key situations to ensure protected exposure.
