I woulda given the 3rd star to Nuge.

Podz with the GWG baby!
The Stars aligned on this one. For a rare time the right 3 star picks made in the right order. 100%.

Good goal by Nuge but he wasn't as good as Boldy in this one. Can't really see that case in this one.

This was McD's best goal scoring hands game of the season.

Engage!

Back-up goaltender delivers a starter game that saves the day on a sloppy team defending effort. Outworked & outscored coach breaks out The Stack Line to save the day. Gets an added bonus of a real good Line 2 with Nugent Hopkins, Arvy & Polkolzen. McDavid delivers to jolt a W against a real good Wild effort without their best players.

Tender enabled this team to find their legs and find the W

Missed the game and just saw McDavid being interviewed on TNT so I knew it was a good result.

We got Podkolzin for a 4th with this guy signed at at a near league minimum deal for another year, not to mention Emberson. So nice to have high level pro scouting for a change.

Beat Minny twice in Minny, this is like apocalyptic level shit.
For this one I think credit goes to Pracey. He liked him at the draft

Josh Brown with a higher game score than Draisaitl o_O
Pretty incredible too as the Drai assist in this game was next level stupendous but of a type we're so used to he doesn't even get credit. That was the letter perfect pass through players sending Hyman home free for what was a huge goal in this game. Drai makes that play and yawns all around.

Sure. Hines is more of a tactitian. The former Wild coaches have been more into the "Wild" type of play that the Wild are pretty suited for. So even though Minny are still uber physical and take liberties they don't run teams right out of the rink anymore. Its more composed sets now and GA prevention and less bruising play.

Still think the Wild are the hardest team to play in the league as far as a black and blue impact. You Play the Wild and you feel it during, after, and later. Credit again for Wild bringing this level of game with all their injuries. A lot of teams would have folded the tent.
Think the Wild culture was formed through its GM and past coach Evason (who I think is one of the best in the league). Tough, physical, greasy and skill. Will be even more of a handful when they get through the cap handicap.

It was a great play but definitely not one of Leon’s better games this year. Hopefully he was saving himself for Colorado.

Yeah, STFU Middleton. How about you look at your buddy Hartman who injured Bouchard last time both teams met and him slewfooting Draisaitl tonight. Cry more, f***ing p***y.

Team is playing 4D chess

They throw out the Klingberg news to Frank S and Co

Then they purposely play Josh Brown to make us yearn for a Klingberg......

Hell, maybe the league is too. They purposely are not giving us PP's and want us to be a better ES team. They are helping us gear up for a playoff run.
Make Klingberg convinced there’s a spot for him in Edmonton by playing JBrown? That would be quite the 4D chess move.

The Pods goal was an own goal btw. heh. He wasn't even shooting at net. just saying.

I like Pods but the goal is something that just happens in hockey. He's having some trouble scoring. He brought a reasonable strong game though.

I thought Philps was nervous in first period in this one but settled in and had some moments. Gotta be tough coming into the Pros and the opposition is the Wild at home and they love to hammer rookies into the middle of next week. Kinda noticed at times the Oilers weren't always making cute plays out there. Was the type of game where you could get your bell rung watching a pass.

Games like this you're happy to get to the bench in one piece. Some hellacious hits.

Credit though. How many opponents have players that can even stand up to Drai Strength wise? The Wild do. That was a factor in the game. The level of difficulty for Drai in NHL probably doesn't get harder than Facing the Wild. They have the kind of strong players that can contain him. This ain't playing the Ducks or Seattle or Nashville or all the other clubs Drai owns. heh.

Well nice to beat Minnesota. Always a tough match up for the Oilers.

Nice to see Nuge-Podkolzin-RV line get a couple goals. McDavid did his thing. Pickard out goalied Gustavsson.

Thought Emberson was supposed to be signed? Hopefully it doesn’t go down the Kostin-Desharnais path where he prices himself off the team only to stall his career.

Really have to wonder how the JJ and KK discussions went down for JSkinner, JBrown and Stetcher. Its kinda perplexing.

Didn’t he get four points against them last game? ;)

Yeah. Like I said in GDT I think the Wild are still the best at this, but while Hines has reigned in the leash somewhat. Wild playing more for structure now while still bringing the physical play when the situation permits. I do miss this kind of NHL where it was much more physical. In some way analytics has tamed hockey a bit. So many of the coaches now that believe hits just take you out of position and ought to be avoided.

This game was damned entertaining and one of the reasons why was that ice was actually contested. So many games in the NHL now where you can have your head down or dance around making plays. used to get leveled doing that sort of thing. I kind of think theres room for more NHL clubs to bring this hard on pucks type of game the Wild bring.

tbh The Oilers are so good right now some of the games are boring. A unique and great problem to have but like the 80's sometimes your just happy to see the few games where an opponent can even play well against us. Not many good teams in the league this year so its seemed like a rare event to have this kind of well competed game.

The problem with the wild playing at 110% all year long, is when other teams ramp it up in the playoffs, the Wild have no where to go.
