In the SCF you have a point, though Toews both out-produced and out-possessed Stamkos in that series.

As far as the WC thus far, the deployment and responsibilities of the Toews and Getzlaf lines are pretty different. I don't think Toews' number one mission as the hard match center is to score.

Deployment? They're not line matching here, they're being rolled and all have the same goal. Stamkos has been actually very good in the defensive side of the puck this tournament. I think he leads in takeaways, as someone pointed out, has some blocked shots. So has Toews, mind you. I'm just saying one hasn't separated themselves from the other.

You say he has 8 seasons under his belt, but it is only 270 total games.

Oh...stats don't matter when he starts to not be as good when he is older.

This isn't the goal scoring record: it is a number that has plenty of time to fluctuate up or down with down being the most likely result.

He can have the best save percentage of all time if he retires right now or maintains it until he is done playing. Until then, give me these guys in comparison to Schneider's .925% in 270 games:

Hasek .922 in 735 games
Henrik .921 in 685 games
Lou .919 in 926 games

Actually, go look at the list and see Jonas Hiller at 23rd all-time and realize you should never use this "best save percentage" thing in an argument ever again. Cechmanek is 10th all time!!! It's almost entirely all current players and your boy has only played 270 games! Hell...Quick has played 26% of Schneider's entire career in just playoff games alone.

This entire experience through this thread has been fascinating.

"You think Schneider is better than Quick? He isn't even Hasek!"

Schneider turned pro at 22 and backed up Luongo for 3 years when he easily could have been starting. Fascinating is pretending like any of that has to do with who the better goalie is today.

They are rolling lines, but there's definitely line matching happening. It's not a coincidence that Toews saw the Kane line the most of any forward line in the first two exhibition games, the Datsyuk/Ovie line the most of any line against Russia, etc.

Tonight, I think you're right that it's going to be more even. Pretty much since the Canadians went up 3-1, Babcock hasn't been doing much matching, he's just trying to keep everybody even and rest some of the lines that got more time early due to matchups, PPs, PKs, etc.

Ah... 'Cat...

You and I will weep in distant years and I will hate that I was right...:(

I know you're trying to be gentle with our American friends ;) But we both know that McDavid, Eckblad, Scheifele, Patrick etc will be laying beatings on them for the next 10 years.
