Dominic Moore is a player who teams look to add at the trading deadline for a 2nd round pick. He was a key player in the Montreal and Tampa Bay runs to the ECF in back to back years. Moore can be a little chippy too.

Moore got a $2,500 fine. Fedotenko got concussed.

Derek Dorsett is a better player than he showed after returning from the broken clavicle.

Agreed. With him on the 4th line this year we might have one of the best in the league. I thought he was okay in the playoffs.

Lindberg and Miller have the potential to be similar players to Dave Bolland and possibly be better since they have higher ceilings than that IMO.

As for a Bickell type, it could be Yogan/Mashinter. I know, highly unlikely, but just remember that Bickell didn't reach the level he's at now until his mid twenties. Also, Yogan and Mashinter could potentially climb the depth charts if they improve their skating. For players with size and a decent set of hands, even a marginal improvement in skating would help their chances of reaching and staying in the NHL. Just look at Marek Hrivik. He went undrafted and now he could potentially make the team out of camp.

Bickell is going to have to have a repeat performance, he played very well in an ideal situation for him. As soon as you start moving him around or expecting certain things out of him you might be disappointed.

I don't expect a cup or even a deep playoff run out of this year's team. 11-12 will be the standard for quite a bit imo, and in a year or two a lot of people are going to want Torts back. We just don't have the elite talent to compete with the better teams. Obviously in 11-12 we didn't either, but we also lead the league in fighting majors and blocked shots and we had an entire roster that bought into a team concept.

That all got blown up when we traded away and lost to free agency a huge chunk of our lineup that was ultimately the sum of the parts that made that team great. Letting Prust walk was a mistake. Acquiring Nash at the expense of all of our center depth was a mistake. Trading Gaborik for a similar return to the one we got was a good move that should've been made prior to the shortened season.

Torts was great for the team aside from his inability to reconcile with Avery and, under the circumstances, properly utilize Kreider. Under the circumstances of the shortened season, Kreider needed to be slotted with our poor excuse for a top 6. Under normal circumstances, playing on a third line with Anisimov or Duby and Callahan would have been fine, but the Nash trade killed that depth opportunity.

Moving forward, as much as it'll hurt, we probably need to move at least a couple of our character guys like one or more of Cally, Boyle, Girardi to try and get some bonafide NHL goal scoring back in a return. It's either that or trade for high picks and rebuild again. Vigneault worked magic offensively, but he also had the Sedin's, Kessler, Burrows, etc. We don't have the talent in our roster to duplicate those results as-is.
