I know a lot of people will say no but I don't think the idea is too far fetched. If he decides to stick around until 42-43 years old like Matt Cullen does, I say he hits 2,000 points.
Thoughts?

sorry it is far fetched
he has 1121 at 31
so he would have to average 80pts a year for the next 10 years?
which is pretty much what he's been averaging the last few anyways
so he probably won't even have some seasons well above that over the next few to ease the requirements as he nears and then enters his 40s
Not sure if he will play in 22-23 or will do Zetterberg to the league.
Starting from 22-23 he will be paid 3M per season. If he stays, it's going to be only for the team. I doubt team is more important than health, especially if u got all the money already. He'll definitely still be playing at that point, he'd only be 35 for that season. I don't know why people doubt he'll play out his contract.

He’ll be at 1200 plus at age 32. Maybe 3 more years around the 90’s would take him around 1,500 at age 35.sorry it is far fetched

Not counting Howe's freakshow career, Crosby would have to beat the next best points-after-30 record (Messier) by about 70 points.
It's just my guess. Not everyone retires because their pay goes down. I don't know why HF assumes that players are only in it for the money.
Yeah, but he's still in his physical prime. But that won't last 10 years. It probably won't last 5. Sooner or later the points will slow down, and there will be injuries. It's just really unlikely that anybody in this era can get to 2000.
