I'm actually even madder that yet another goalie was run and no one did shit about it.

f*** this team. Grow a pair. Neither Campbell NOR Quick deserve this, they battle too hard to have a bunch of gutless pukes folding over right in front of them.

But you see, they have a valuable veteran like Nate Thompson who would step in and... oh wait, that didn't happen.

Curious, who hyped him up to be that? He's NEVER been that guy in his career......ever.

Maybe you weren't paying attention, but he very much was advertised as a gritty defensive centerman who excelled at the dot. I remember him very well from his time with the Ducks. Since you don't seem to remember that, here are a couple of links that describe those attributes: Player evaluation: Thompson - LA Kings Insider, Nate Thompson at eliteprospects.com. Curious though if you think he was never seen as being good at defensive play, grit or at the faceoff dot; what role did teams sign him to fill?

No, I don't remember him being advertised as a old school in your face player, ala a Phaneuf type, he's solid at faceoffs, and he's decent defensively and provides energy on the forecheck, but he's NEVER been a step up for a player type of player etc....

EDIT: Probably could have made that a bit clearer when I replied....

"High energy" and "gritty game." Where are we seeing that? He just let Bennett have his way with him and did nothing in response to getting shoved into his own goalie.

What Thompson was in the past is irrelevant to the player he is now, which isn't all that physical. Has anyone seen him get into any players' face?

Thompson was supposed to be a Colin Fraser type of fourth line center, someone who is abrasive and assertive in the physical aspects of the game.

Do things like this,

Colin Fraser vs Scott Nichol Nov 22, 2011
Colin Fraser vs Keith Ballard Jan 17, 2012
Colin Fraser vs. Derek Dorsett
Matt Beleskey vs Colin Fraser Dec 22, 2011
Barret Jackman vs Colin Fraser Mar 5, 2013
Matt Hendricks vs Colin Fraser Jan 9, 2012

And I don't care about winning fights or clobbering players, Fraser would step in and assert himself. We haven't seen this from Thompson. Have any of you?

Funny because I've seen a few games where there's suddenly sustained mayhem in the offensive zone, and to my surprise its Thompson and his line. Granted it amounts to nothing, but sadly there are nights where he passes the eye test far better than almost every other forward on the roster. More of an indictment on everybody else than praise for him.

Feel really bad for Campbell. He's been more than serviceable. Still hoping he bounces back from the injury and ekes out a decent next contract somewhere in the league.
