Cam Neely reference in new Mission Impossible movie?

I saw the Mission Impossible Final Reckoning movie today and the 2 star Navy admiral’s name was “C. Neely.” Coincidence? Is the writer an old school Bruins fan?
That would be cool.

I did find this:

In "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning", the character of Rear Admiral Neely, played by Hannah Waddingham, has a reference to the original "Mission: Impossible" film. President Sloane (Angela Bassett) gives Ethan a note with the date "May 22, 1996" to give to Neely. This date is a nod to the release date of the original "Mission: Impossible" movie in the US, serving as an Easter egg for the audience and confirming Ethan's trustworthiness to Neely.

• The Note:
President Sloane provides Ethan with a note, and he needs to share it with Neely to gain her trust and access her aircraft carrier, which is crucial for reaching a specific location in the film.

• The Date:
The note contains the date "May 22, 1996." According to SlashFilm, this date holds significance within the film's narrative, as it refers to a past event in Serbia that Neely and Sloane know about, indicating that Ethan is vetted and trustworthy.

• The Easter Egg:
In reality, May 22, 1996, is the US release date of the first "Mission: Impossible" film, starring Tom Cruise. This makes the date an Easter egg for fans familiar with the franchise, as it confirms Ethan's reliability and their connection to the original movie.

• Neely's Reaction:
Upon receiving the note, Neely recognizes the date and unders
tands that Ethan is indeed trustworthy and vetted by someone as reliable as President Sloane.

You know you're a Bruins fan when you start seeing Bobby Orr's face in your toast.

Seriously though, how many people here set the TV volume to 37? Or the car heater to 77 on a cold day?

I absolutely do shit like this all the time.

Hell, when I’m reading a book, I’ll remember the page number I ended at by Bruin jersey number.

True story, LOL:
I was counting beer cans for delivery, and was actually interrupted at 37.
I immediately associated that with Bergeron, so I could later return counting at Rosie Ruzicka.
