Flames say no for cap reasons

Toffili costs us the ability to sign Mang, Gaudreau or Tkachuk.

No thank you
And they say Habs make bad one -sided offers.
This is really bad for the Habs.

This is the gold standard for Flame's offers. I have never seen a Flames offer that made any sense for the other team. Flames fans actually believe Lucic has value! LOL

Ya  They think Lucic has more value than Toffoli.
That should tell us everything.

so you actually think the Flames should acquire Tofolli when it will cost us Gaudreau, Tkachuk and/or Mangiapane? Do you not understand there is a salary cap?

Blake Coleman for Tofolli, all day. The Flames need to shed salary. Not take on another long term big money declining asset.

Think logically for once. You acquire Toffli then promptly trade him for positive value. Meanwhile you dumped Monahan. Monahan has been on a steep downward trajectory. Its not rocket science...

will we though? Why is Montreal making this trade if that’s the case? It seems like a dump. There aren’t a lot of teams with cap space and there are better players available.

To me the Flames should try to get rid of Monahan, Markstrom and Coleman. Not add another vet who messes up their cap situation.

Montreal is not making the trade - that's the whole point. Any Flames fan who says no to the OP's proposal is completely out of touch...

This isn't even close to making sense for Montreal. This is the 3rd straight season Monahan hasn't been a top-6 caliber C. He and Dvorak are at a similar level right now, but Dvorak is younger, cheaper and has more control. And that leaves, what, a mid round pick for Toffoli? Come on, that's ridiculous.

The difference between Calgary's 1st next year and Montreal's 2nd this year is like 10 picks (in draft position), why not just simplify it. Give Montreal a "refund" on Dvorak. 1st + 2nd + Monahan for both. Montreal would also probably prefer to keep as well as stock up on this years draft anyways. Then they can flip Monahan at next years deadline

Fair enough. Yeah that's about the same value. Certainly much better then the OP

Toffoli is not an expensive player, he does not cost the team any of those other players. What a weird take

No reason for Montreal to do it. This is selling too low on Toffoli and the Habs don't have any need or reason to just dump Dvorak's contract.

In your head, rent free
Considering that Dvorak got a 1st and a 2nd just at the beginning of the season, and Toffoli is probably worth a 1st and a B prospect.

Counter:

:habs

Tyler Toffoli
Christian Dvorak
:flames
Sean Monahan
1st 2022
2nd 2022
1st 2023
Zary/Poirier

Much more fair for Montreal.

More fair to Montreal, but not a more fair deal. If the Flames are giving up 3 1sts (counting Zary) and a 2nd they are going to want an elite player back. This is basically the return for Eichel

Well, it was Bergevin that paid the 1st + 2nd for Dvorak, so good luck reclaiming that value. I'd make a ridiculous counter but outside of Suzuki, there's nobody that I'd really want.

Laughable.
