Amazing that this is his first. Pure joy to watch Makar play.

Surprised this is the first. I heard first and was like, what?

As great as Makar is, how is it "amazing" or "surprising" that a 5th year defenceman with 82 career goals hasn't had a hattrick before?

They aren't exactly a dime a dozen in the first place and especially rare for dmen. Guessing a ton of really great offensive defencemen have gone their entire careers without one.

I get what you are saying but his offense is so great that it provokes an emotional response of really and yes your view is right but the brain response always follows the emotional one...well at least for some people.

Yeah that's fair. I think it's just so rare for a Dman I would have conversely been shocked if it wasn't his first.

I looked a few guys up out of curiosity. Nick Lidstrom got his 1st and only career hattrick in 2010 at age 40. Erik Karlsson got his first and only last season. Roman Josi hasn't had one yet.

It’s pretty easy to be less durable when you actually play defense and put your body on the line to win.
Your opinion is outdated. There's a reason Canucks have the best goal differential in the league, and thats because of Hughes

Makar is the best, Hughes is the best. both statements are true to me. both clearly ahead of the rest

As for Makar game, can't be more happy for the kid and i hope he does some damage in the playoffs and go for the second cup in his young career

And Makar has played less games. The two aren't the same tier.
I think Makar is better but I don’t think he’s in the lead. He hasn’t been at his peak level this year, a lot of his points came earlier in the season

Or as a result of playing with the Art Ross favorite. Makar is doing very little on his own this year. Still the best D in the world, just not specifically this season.

He got pretty lucky on the second goal. I guess the fortunate bounces just keep coming for Cale. Good for him.

Yeah they tend to be a byproduct of being involved in the play all the time.
