Weegar for Chabot was actually discussed as a basis on the flames board recently. I think both Weegs and Andersson are better than Chabot currently but if a change of scenery gets him playing like he was at the beginning of his career it could be interesting for the flames
If they move on from Andersson I’d prefer a futures package to this kind of deal personally though
Sens. Andersson should get the Hronek return.

The Flames should be more interested in futures than a contract like Chabot's. Can't see them having interest in a deal like this.
I don't know what this kind of trade accomplishes for either team.

Obviously. Ras is the better player, is much cheaper while the cap is so tight, and is right handed. There is zero incentive for Calgary to make this swap. If Andersson does end up getting moved it will be for futures and/or young players
I don't like Chabot at all. I think he has negative value. I know that'll be controversial, but it's how I see him. I'd give you Andersson and Parekh for Sanderson. I'd love to get Sanderson.

Sanderson is going nowhere. Chabot is the player that is being offered in this thread. Maybe a deal around another Calgary player(s). Coleman?

No. Chabot really just isn't of interest to Calgary. He'll be 28 soon and is a purely offensive defenseman. Ottawa should have offloaded his contract this summer instead of Chychrun's.
Why would we trade a top pairing RHD making #4 money for a middle pairing LHD making top pairing money? I'd move Ras for something good, not for a cap dump.
You're talking Sanderson, Tkachuk, Stutzle or a combination of Pinto, prospect, pick.
Coleman would be a lesser ask. One of Pinto or prospect or pick.
BTW, Coleman is a good ask for you guys. It shows you actually realize the problem in Ottawa. You guys need him or Backlund more than you need Ras.

Coleman is 33 and not getting younger. Plus he's a UFA in 2 years. Doesn't make sense to trade him for a young player entering his prime in Pinto (he just turned 24).
I guess it depends on whether Ottawa wants to be Buffalo north or not. Eventually you need some players to play the hard minutes. It doesn't have to be Pinto in a Coleman deal. It has to be a futures piece with pick 20ish in value. If not, I think we can do better elsewhere in a Coleman deal.

I would keep Rasmus Andersson, he’s a solid defender especially winning the puck battles and is also a RHD, Thomas Chabot has bounced back with a good season defensively playing just above 22 minutes a night.
Chabot isn’t being run into the ground playing above 26 minutes a night anymore and Sanderson’s emergence has helped take some minutes off of Thomas.
