TO CAL: Zegras

TO ANA: Pelletier + 2nd round + Young D (solovyov) or similar or another pick for that matter depending what ANA wants. Basically take your picks of draft picks outside of Coronato, Hunter B, or Zane P. Whatever Anaheim feels is reasonable.

The only way I would consider trading Zegras to Calgary is if he is in a package to bring back Andersson or Weegar. This deal does nothing for Anaheim (it would also put them below the cap floor).

Andersson or Weegar is bringing a huge premium, not even the same realm as a Zegras deal this year. Like premium player plus a first round pick type of deal... plus the flames already have a number of realtively upper end players they may want to get rid of Kadri, Kuzmenko.

Zegras for Andersson or Weegar is a massive overpay in the current year.

Zegras is 3pts in 12 games and -6 currently and a "Kuzmenko" type of maybe/maybe not type of player.

Insultingly bad offer. The kind that would get Conroy blocked. The Ducks aren't trading Zegras for a guy that was just on waivers, a 2nd and another mid tier prospect.

Can change the deal around a bit, Calgary has lots of good picks and prospects.

I just don't think Zegras is a premium trade this year, he's more a Kuzmenko type of deal. Streaky, could be good, reasonable contract currently. They both aren't fetching a high end deal.

It's fine for you to think this, but you aren't giving any reasons as to why the Ducks would make the type of deal you want. It's also worth mentioning that Zegras is 4 years younger than Kuzmenko was last season at the time of his trade, so they aren't really comparable players.

So switch it around a bit, A first, a second, and top D prospect.... ANA is rebuilding no? They aren't in the mix for 2-3 years easily. You dont even want a weegar or andersson, they're too old for the rebuild.

Calgary is competitive well... I guess now, and should be for the next while if they keep getting better. ANA is still 2-3 years out.

Well the 2 players in the original deal you posted are actually older than Zegras, so I'm not sure how that would make the rebuild any better. Maybe Zegras isn't a long term solution here, but trading him at age 23 when his value is as low as it has ever been is not a good move to make. The only exception could be packaging him in a bigger deal for a legitimate contributor under the age of 28 or so who can be a long term piece.

Yeah that isn't a package that gets Zegras. I think it'd have to be closer to a late first + second for the Ducks to decide to keep listening. Even then, they rightfully might hang up the phone.

Sure, calgary has lots of picks to play with and likely more once the deadlines come around if they deal.

If the Ducks are willing to listen, then sure. I'd be happy to see if something could be figured out.

Flames are looking to add to the youngsters on the core, not subtract and want to do quantity for quality moves.

I'm not convinced Ducks would do quality for quantity trade though. If that's the case, two teams are likely not a good match as trading partners.

If we wanted Pelletier we would have picked him up off waivers last month

I don’t hate a Zegras + small add for Andersson for both teams. That’s exactly what they need.

OP offers two prospects who haven't reached the NHL and are older than Zegras, to a rebuilding team that needs NHL talent. and the prospect including are in positions we dont need prospect that are worse than what we currently have.

I don't hate Zegras the way a lot of this website seems to but really not all that interested in acquiring him. Don't think he's got the size, speed, or attitude to play C and the Flames have plenty of skill wingers. Another American that will probably have one foot out the door too.

value favors the Flames in the OP but the juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze

or they are not competitive if they get worse.

if i look at calgary's roster they should not trade any 1st or 2nd round picks. they are no lock for the playoffs. even considering possible trade returns.
