Halak was good tonight. Good for him to get the win.

Vally was spot on in the postgame saying their compete level was higher tonight than it’s been lately. He was diplomatic about it saying “they’ve been working hard but” and he’s right. Working hard is expected. Compete level is winning those 50/50 pucks and fighting through picks to get in on the forecheck and clearing your own crease. The team had much better compete level tonight all night. Good to see, of course it doesn’t matter if it’s just a one off. They need that every single night.

Lindgren with 3 primary assists, nice to see. Good for Vesey getting on the board, he’s been playing well. I know we obviously All don’t want him on the first line but he’s been good. Good for him to do some soul searching and really turn himself into a really solid hockey player.

Let’s see if they can get on a roll.

I thought that was an ugly win, but it also seemed like the type of game they needed to (hopefully) get back on track. They seriously need to take both games this weekend

I agree about the compete level. It was noticeable. Ottawa has some skill and I thought the Rangers were a little better defensively as well. They seemed to stand up at the blue line a little more instead of the "enter" sign that is usually at the blue line. We will see if it continues.

Halak had a few good saves, but that might be the shakiest victory I seen in a while.

That said, pumped he got his first W. He really needed that to help move away from second guessing every other save.
