The now 21 year old Kartye played 3 seasons with the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL before being signed by Seattle in March of last year. He currently has 17 goals and 37 points for the Coachella Valley Firebirds. After a slower start to the year though he has 30 points in his last 31 AHL games as a rookie.

Does anyone have any insight into this player's NHL potential? Not really a whole lot of information out there on him except that he has a good wrist shot. Maybe a player we see playing for the Kraken in the future?

Had a hattrick last night to reach 20 goals and 41 points on the season, and move into the top 5 in AHL rookie goal scoring. On a heater the last 20 games with 15 goals and 24 points in that span.

Goals at 00:14, 00:57, and 1:17.

Leads all AHL rookies in points now with 54 points in 66 games and one goal off from tying Ethen Frank for the rookie lead. Has 17 goals his last 24 games. PPG over his last 45 AHL games. Still 21 years old.

Seems like a kid who probably gets drafted if there is an OHL season in 2020-21.

Very surprised at how his named is pronounced too, thought it would be Kar-Tie.

These 20 year olds that have their best season in their last year of junior are a crapshoot. Some make it, some just turn out to be decent AHLers. Congrats on Seattle hitting it big on a lottery ticket.

Every so often an undrafted player slips through and makes it, seems like this may be one of those cases.

I see your point about hit or miss, but there's still scouting involved

Well, that's pretty obvious. All signings have some scouting.

Reid Duke never made it for Vegas.
"crapshoot" and "lottery ticket" would indicate that determining which overage players have transferable skills is a blind guess, because some make it and some don't, at which point you could say that about every prospect including high first rounders

An assist so far tonight. Kraken fans must be excited for this kid from going undrafted to the producing in the playoffs. Looking comfortable out there for the most part

What are the chances he moves up the lineup this season??? 20 points last season as a rookie but before that had a really good rookie season in the AHL and put up 57 points in 72 games and was named AHL rookie of the year and also had a pretty good junior career points wise… or will he always be a 4th liner guy

Has the ability to play up and down the lineup and plays very physical. Had 229 hits last season with 39 pims
