One of the best players for the victorious USA team at the YOG. Already 6'0, a late birthday making him 2027 Draft-eligible, very good skater, and has a high level motor. He has some skill. He could benefit from slowing the game down a little more. He's probably a lock or close to it for the NTDP next season.

He's from Salt Lake City, Utah. Given circumstances in the NHL, hockey in Utah will probably start becoming a bigger topic soon. Only current NHL'er born in Utah is Trevor Lewis.

Surprisingly didn't make the NTDP. Where does he go now? I suspect he's likely tendered by a USHL team or potentially goes WHL.

Medicine Hat drafted him first round in the US Draft last year, so that could be a real coup for them.

I don't pretend to know all the kids in the age group, but Gordon Carroll was one of the better ones I saw. I'm also surprised he didn't make the team.

I thought he'd make it but I'm not exactly shocked, either. The NTDP usually loves guys with his skating and motor, and he's got good size despite being young. But he looked pretty and his skill didn't exactly stand out. But he has the frame and feet to be an interesting one to keep an eye on.

Obviously he has some intriguing upside with the decent size already, very good skating, puck handling ability, a real motor, and a good defensive game from the middle of the ice, but his hockey sense is no bueno and I don't think he's some elite skill guy. I think it was the wrong decision for the NTDP to not pick him because there's no way they have 13 better forwards, and his game can fit in a grinder role, if needed. But he has a lot of tools that will make him a potential early/mid round pick in 2027. Good for Medicine Hat, and they have a sick team for the next few years. That could help him out a lot.

It might be better for him to be on his own team instead of potentially get stuck down the lineup on the NTDP. We have this discussion on HF quite a bit: several guys stagnate because they aren't getting big minutes/puck touches; SGC could play top 6 off the bat in Medicine Hat and be productive for several years in the Dub before playing pro.

3+9=12 points in 25 games. He’s statistically a top 6’er for one of the best teams in the WHL and doesn’t turn 16 for another few days. Outproducing the very hyped Ruck twins on his own team and a draft later than them.
