Depends on so many factors. How much does Frost improve this year? Does Vorobyev make the team and play well? Do any of Laughton/Weal make sizable jumps in their play?

It isn't impossible, and it would take more time (maybe an additional year in the AHL). But, it seems pretty unlikely. Pace controlling playmakers like Frost are most useful at center. Also the wings seem just as crowded as 3C could be. And I'd assume Hextall would prefer Frost as 3C/4C than 4LW/RW.

If Vorobyev plays well in a 3C/4C role and Frost is clearly ready then I'd guess they will both take the bottom-6 center positions and receive fairly similar minutes.

Definitely wouldn't take Chytil or Thomas over Frost. Liljegren is close. Agree with rest. Frost is a Giroux clone

Not sure about Chytil after I've seen his lack of development this offseason, but Thomas is easily ahead of Frost at this moment in time. Thomas is potentially good enough to crack the Blues lineup this season.

I'd personally have Hischier, Patrick, Heiskenen, Peterrsson, Glass, Mittlestadt, Rasmussen, Necas, Suzuki, Brannstrom, Thomas, Tolvanen ahead of him. With players like Chytl arguably ahead but I've been down on Chtyl lately.

I think he's in the top 15 conversation for sure, but I don't think top 10. Semantics really, as I think he's projecting to be a good player.

I don’t believe Hextall has ever during his tenure here promoted a player right away when they were eligible to play in the AHL. Provorov, Konecny, & Patrick were all NHL or CHL.

Looking at ‘17 draft, I can’t see how Frost could be top 10. I would have him in the 15-20 range.

One thing is sure ; Hextall knows how to draft.

That's the thing.... ....he wouldn't fit. Ideally he'd play 2C based on skill set but hes not beating out Patrick for that. Vorobyev has had a great camp and preseason and is more polished at this point and brings a very good 200 ft game. He's just a better fit for 3C. If vorobyev didn't Emerge, Frost would have been 3C imo but he isn't optimal in a 3C setting. The kid is gonna give us some real crazy C depth with Coots and Patrick with G obviously able to still slot in as an elite Center.

I know I'm in the minority opinion on Thomas but I don't see how he's getting all this hype. I say this as someone who took heat for putting him 22nd on my prospect rankings when virtually no one had him better than mid 2nd round. He was a late riser and finally got on a few mock "experts" list as a late first. I was very big on him and still think he'll be a good player. I just dont see how his +1 season or stock improved more than Frost and they were pretty even as prospects at the draft. (I had Thomas 22nd, Frost 33rd)

I think Pettersson and Thomas have to be higher and Mittelstadt lower right now. Frost should be #11-15, IMO.

Its 4 games into the year, prospects are often disappointed and go through a slump after being returned to junior when they are expected to make the NHL. Give him to the 15 to 20 game mark.. if he isnt in the top 10 in scoring I'd be concerned. He will ramp it up as the team settles in and he gets ready for world juniors. The Greyhounds are slowly coming together.. just got our potential #1 D returned.. our probable captain is in Arizona with a concussion and our biggest wild card Sandin is stuck between playing in 3 different leagues this year.

If frost has a 90 point season i still won't be concerned . Two years ago Sam Steel had 130 points for Regina and last year only had about 80 and right now is playing with Anaheim and looks fine . People get way to wrapped up in points

Likely equally talented wingers. The Hounds have alot of younger players and guys stepping into offensive roles, that were in the shadows last year of the power house team we had. Lots of goal scoring potential to be spread around the top 6 or 9, so both should have playmakers and finishers to help out.

But to be clear, the wingers are mostly sophomores who, though they show promise, are not anywhere near the calibre of Katchook, Raddish, etc. Support will be a lot weaker than last year.

Yes much weaker this year, alot less fire power on the wings. To be fair Frost made everyone around him look like a 40 goal scorer, I wouldn't be surprised if he did the same to some sophomores and rookies this year.

He had 5 points in his first 7 games last year. He had a 3 point night his 8th game & pretty much took off from there. He had 4 games in his first 7 games where he didnt get a point. He only had 6 games from that point on where he was held off he scoresheet & a lot of multi-point games in there too.

With a sample size like that, I think it's fair to be concerned about his development.

Meanwhile the other half of that trade is only a 4C at the moment, so it's looking pretty bad right now.
