C Mark Jankowski (2012, 21st, CGY) II

Flames will sign him. Every time a former 1st round pick or highly regarded prospect goes the full 4 years of college, the same story is made.

Is his value worth more than the comp pick? Its not like he's torn apart h-east.

He's the best player on Providence. A lot of people consider them to be the best team in the NCAA. Take that as you will.
I'm not overly convinced he's going to be a huge impact player (I could see him as a Martin Hanzal type though).

Nothing wrong with a Martin Hanzal type player.

Hanzal is a very useful player in the league.

Yah with

Monahan
Bennett
Jankowski

as our future 3 Centermen the Flames are in good shape.

Not to mention Backlund who has become one of the better two way centers in the league.

Jake Walman?

Jankowski's team has been eliminated, he was injured during (or before?) the final game of his NCAA career and could not finish the Tournament game. Now the watch is on for getting him signed to an Entry-Level Contract asap along with teammate John Gimour.

Jake Walman?

Walman's shot has been a beauty this year but so much of his offense came from Jankowski passes and Jankowski screens. Defensively IMO Walman is a major work in progress. Not saying he doesn't have a huge ceiling - he does - but he's more Keith Yandle than Duncan Keith for the Friars.

Either way it sucks that their season had to end in 2OT with neither Walman nor Jankowski playing. One of those "I wonder what could have been" finishes for sure as the four man unit of Mingoia, Jankowski, Walman, and Gimour was lights out to start the year.

I wouldn't mind the Leafs getting him on Aug 15 if he doesn't sign with the Flames.

And Flames fans wouldn't mind if Nylander only wanted to sign an RFA contract that would take him straight to UFA.

What a completely thoughtless post.

Signing vesey is much more realistic than jankowski, and vesey is a long shot to sign with the leafs.

Meh. It's somewhere around there.
Had a good season, made good strides. I have a feeling that he'll have a Colborne type career. Big with skill and yet leaves you wanting more every year; but I'm hoping he signs with Calgary, what a waste of 4 years if he doesn't.

I'm indifferent. I would like to see Jankowski in camp with the Flames. I would also like a 2017 2nd.

Either way I'm not expecting much.

At a recent STH meeting Burke said that Jankowski would be offered a contract but if he refused the Flames would be happy to take the pick. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

Is it really?

He's in the unique situation where if he wanted to, he could go UFA without ever playing an NHL game.

We've seen it many times.

To call it a thoughtless post is just you being sour. Chill out. You seem to be on the verge of a stroke.

The Flames drafted him in the first round four seasons ago as a project so that he would become a Calgary Flame. It's akin a Flames fan dropping by in a Nylander thread to say "I hope William Nylander demands a trade to Calgary because he was born here now that he's done developing in the AHL.".

We're aware that he's got the right to choose to become a UFA but so long as he's rightfully our prospect it's the classy thing to do to treat him as another team's prospect.

I'm not sure if you're aware but you're on a hockey message board where people discuss hypotheticals. Believe it or not, there is even a section where people can propose crazy trade ideas. The section is called "Trade Rumours and Free Agent Talk" in case you're interested.

Jankowski is 100 percent property of Calgary, but unlike with Nylander or McDavid or Ehlers or Larkin or any other budding young player in the league right now, Jankowski is in the rare position where he can CHOOSE where he wants to play before ever having played a game :O.

With all of that being said, I stand by my statement. I hope the Leafs sign him if he doesn't sign with the Flames. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

I know if he doesn't sign with the Flames, there will definitely be some pitchforks in Calgary. He's likely the most polarizing prospect this team's ever had; him giving Calgary the thumbs down and turning his back would be insane.

Although; there's two posters on the Flames board that I'd LOVE to see how they spin this if he did sign elsewhere  although, some things are just not worth knowing.

Don't worry, you're completely in the right here. Some people need a thicker skin outside of their team specific sites.

If you need that insulation Ovechkin, CP is pretty good.
