Yeah Walton's scoring was pretty good all things considered and then ran cold late in the season into the playoffs. I guess scouts saw those late games and didn't think the pieces would come together.
And this is exactly what you should do with 6th and 7th round picks. Take shots at guys who have shown flashes whether they are 6’6”, 5’8”, 150 lbs or 300 lbs.
Late picks are no time for safe picks.

Must be going to ncaa next year. No point playing OHL another year. Should go to BC and play with Letorno or whatever his name is Boston drafted. Both 6.6 skilled, would be an eyesight..

I know it's early days, but does anyone have a guess where he'd rank if a redraft was done now?
A hand grenade guess?

I've heard it speculated somewhere he might be considered a 1st round pick.

Take that for whatever value that holds

Personally, I have no idea. I'm rooting for him to succeed. It'd be awesome to draft a skilled player in a late round.

It would be great to hit on a late round gem. Very long way to go still but quite the explosion in Walton’s draft +1 season. Also crazy that he doesn’t turn 19 until late April. He almost qualified for this upcoming draft. His D +1 pace reminds me of a bit of Wyatt Johnston and in both cases they stood alone at the top of their teams scoring by a huge margin.

Walton is clearly the straw that is stirring the drink in Sudbury. He has 58 points in 33 games and the next closest Wolves player has 38 points.

:waiting patiently for some people to post that Walton should be the 2C next season with the big boys: (Yes, I'm ducking for cover now, and no, I'm not serious or suggesting this)

When does it stop being a hot streak? He's 33 games into the season.
Yeah with prospects this is about the best you can hope for. Almost better a guy is crazy outperforming his previous year at his scoring rates than matching it. Indicates he still has room to improve

I have said many times, I think he will go to NCAA for a bigger challenge. I think many collages a gonna bring the big guns for Keiron.

Would he have to sit in the transfer portal for a year to go to the NCAA or is that not a thing anymore?

I don't see him doing that myself unless Sudbury wins the Memorial Cup. He's been given a great opportunity with Sudbury and has taken it and ran. If they don't go all the way players often feel like they owe it to their team to have another go at it.

Other players have been transferring schools without skipping a season for the last 2-3 years, so I think that is in the past. I don't think it would have applied to CHL players regardless.

If he is going back to Jr, Jets need to get him signed.

Jets have helped players finish university after signing with the organization. Copp was one example I believe.

Finishing Uni is a long way off. Keeping his rights if he goes to NCAA is a little fuzzy. I'm not sure which rules apply. NCAA rules have been relaxed but I'm pretty sure he still can't be under contract.

But if he plans on playing in the OHL next year he certainly can. So, if that is the case, Jets need to get him signed before he gets any ideas of going back into the draft.

I suspect the new NCAA rules are unclear for everyone. I don’t have cable but assume some talking heads on TSN have discussed this. If not, then there are probably some loopholes popping up.
