And it was also the most ice time he got in the past 6 games. Even then it was less than 15 minutes.

I would like to see him get some top 6 ice time and get over 15 minutes consistently. Then points will come.
For sure it'd improve. I have no idea who's spot he'd take though...

Cozens? Peterka? Tuch? It's a really nice top 6. I also cannot understand how Buffalo doesn't win more games.

That Benson - Cozens - Peterka line was -3 today and Thompson & Tuch was -2.

Imo Team defense is the issue. I think a Pageau/Copp/Lowry type centre would help this group enormously.

That would push guys like Kulich up.

Move Zucker to line 3(McLeod back to center on that line).

This way Kulich replaces Zucker on line 1.

3rd line then becomes a legit checking line. Zucker only has 5 goals so he is not going to do more than Kulich.

If this team wants to improve they need to let their youth play more…simple

Youngsters play more? They did and it doesn't work. Cozens sucks, especially as a 2C. Peterka has been generally terrible in the last 10-12 games and barely puts up any points. Quinn has scored one empty-net goal this season and that's it, he's been a healthy scratch for a few games now. Kulich is trying, but it's not enough. Generally the only bright spot is Benson, but he always plays on the weakest line. We need more proven veterans or good players for the top 6, not more youth.

3C today. I still think Buffalo is doing him right. Looks like he has Benson and McLeod. I know I keep saying this but when I see the Sabres lineup, I am in shock they lose so much. It's a nice roster.
Young team. Growing pains. It’s a shame but hopefully front office/ownership don’t really mess up to do a trade or two just to do it.

His assist was not exactly a banger but glad he has one.

November 22nd seems to be a very small turning point for him

He had 1 point before November 22nd and a few healthy scratches. Since then he's playing C, getting around 15 minutes. It's not enough but arrows are pointing up. Hopefully he just keeps building. Buffalo losing may take a lot of pressure of him too!

He is around the net and getting scoring chances. His play is a little timid at times but he looks like he will be a legit player.

He does play for Buffalo so it will be slower development than being on an NHL team

I like the forwards he plays with.. yesterday he had McLeod and Benson. Those are great lineups. I get the team is struggling badly but he is surrounded by talented forwards. Kampf plays with Ryan Reaves as a comparable.lol I like everything I'm seeing from him and Buffalo braintrust to be honest. Points have to start coming though! He wasn't drafted to win the Selke. I'd say an optimistic outcome would be

1. he keeps playing C in the NHL in top 9.
2. he never goes back to AHL
3. he finishes around 30 points
4. he goes to Worlds for the Czechs and gets a Top 6 role
5. he comes back next year a sure thing to be in the Top 9 and does better than 30 points

Lindy trusted him more early in the game tonight and it paid off big time. Scored early. Had a great secondary assist after a strong backcheck and then getting plastered on the wall…he got up and read the play in the offensive zone, stealing the puck and getting it to Dahlin who got it to Benson for the goal. Also drew a penalty driving the net and they scored on the PP.

He actually didn’t play that much in the third period with the big lead. Which I funnily take as Lindy thinking other guys needed the shifts to boost their confidence. He played almost two minutes more than Cozens through 2 periods…and then ended up playing two minutes less in the game. And yet…that second goal posted above came in those limited shifts lol.

He didn’t need the confidence boost. He just needed the ice time.
