We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

I hope to some day understand better what the heck went wrong with him. Maybe the change of scenery will be what he needs.

I don’t think this’ll be good for his career, but he seems to be headed down a bad path anyway. Not sure the league is the biggest issue for him.

From relevant interviews, it appears he was PO'd he wasn't gifted a KHL roster spot and was required to work his way up from the MHL. He then pouted and didn't listen to coaches.

At least it’s Muskegon (haha…weird statement I know). There are far worse outposts in North America juniors for a Russian to go. I would assume the have some language flexible staff and billet families already established with their history being the first port of call for more than a few Russian prospects in North America.
Given that he (or maybe more correctly his agents/handlers?) have already torpedoed the first half of his draft season - I’d say at this point, it’s probably a good move.
With his reticence to play juniors in Russia, I would assume this is mostly a move to be more front and center in the minds of NHL scouting departments and that ultimately, the ideal track of the player is to be developed in the AHL next year - a path a few high level Euros take in coordination with their NHL teams in their post-draft seasons. But he has a LOT of work to do to get there. If he’s exceptional, he will produce in the USHL but as has been pointed out and as various USHL to CHL moves have proven this year - it’s generally a harder league (not saying ‘better’) for 17/18 year-olds to score in, let alone ones making such a monumental move in the middle of the season.

I think you have to expect the best PPG for a draft eligible (or essentially right there) in the USHL (there’s not many top draft picks in the league this year). And if he doesn’t bring that, he’s definitely starting to slip outside the first half of the first round and potentially looking at second round as a real possibility.

A target for the Caps to bring him over and pair him with Miroshnichenko and whoever the third dude may be. Bad start to the season might help in getting him in 25-30 range.

if you look a few posts up, I have both of his 1st 2 games where it's just about everything he did on the ice. I should have several more vids of him coming up.
Good to see him get back on track. Not sure if he can do enough to get back into the top 10 at this point but still going to be a good option around there.
