#1 overall draft pick from the '12 Q draft by the Sherbrooke Phoenix (in their inaugural year).

The team was pretty bad - but better than expected and managed to make the playoffs - to be swept in the first round. But, it could have been worse.

Audette put up 29 pts in 54 games (10g, 19a).

Played for QC in the U17 Challenge - i wasn't floored by him - but didn't see him a ton and the team wasn't fantastic...so maybe it wasn't on him.

Has been invited to the Hlinka tryout camp.

Can the Q crowd fill us in on their thoughts, what to expect from him next year, how you think he'll be re the draft, etc.

Personally I really like Audette. Small but solid built, so skilled and a great compete level. The guy wants to win and compete really hard on the ice. Very skilled, great hockey sense and playmaking abilities. Should have a very good year with Sherbrooke this year.

He was one of five QMJHL "area" kids invited to the Hilinka tryouts (one played AAA in Quebec), and was obviously the highest picked in the Q draft out of them all. He is very skilled, and sees the ice very well.

At this point, he has certainly been surpassed by others in the Q in regards to NHL draft potential, but he is still a very good player and prospect, and should have a solid year in Sherbrooke.

From what I've seen, I don't like him. Looked scared to get hit, turned the puck over countless times trying to get around people, and with passes. Seamed intimidated to go anywhere near the net and to do anything extra. And I don't think I'll ever forget his pass to Kameron Kielly to score the Ot winner one game. Only problem is Kielly was on the other team.

Another thing to note, he played on an expansion team (still not as bad as Cape Breton with Bishop) so he received better ice-time than most of his 16 year old counterparts.

As of last year, although he had good point totals, I would rank these guys ahead of him from the Q

Pepin- Best prospect from the 2012 "Q" draft
Bishop
McDonald
Carrier
Neill
Aubé-Kubel

Sure he had more ice time, but he also was less «shielded»... put him behind some good Q guys and all people see is his flashes.

Oh no doubt, but when you come directly in the league and get top two line minutes and 1 PP, you are coming into a good ice-time situation.

There are 10 QMJHL area kids invited to Hlinka camp, not 5.

I want to see him again as a 17 year old this season before I judge him. Because based on last year I didn't view him as anything spectacular in my limited viewings.

17 year old seasons can change a players outlook in a big way though!

Agreed, just look at Drouin he came out of nowhere.

Well Drouin did put up almost a ppg in the regular sesaon and 26 pts in 17 playoff games, so he definitely didn't come out of nowhere. He was actually an honourable mention on Bob's pre season top 10 for the draft, but yea I get what you're saying.

Audette could easily put up big number in the Q this season, he definitely has the offensive skill. Size didn't stop his dad.

I don't know how any people can speak definitively on kids coming out of their 16 year old seasons! 16 to 17 is arguably the biggest year for development for kids that eventually turn into NHL players. Pros from Joes are separated in 17 year old year.

made Hlinka.

sorry for being pushy - but can some of the Q kids *please* talk a bit more about him, what they've seen in the past year, etc.

Last season he looked like he'd project as a 5th-6th round pick lol

Tough to judge as a 16 year old on an expansion team but there are many I'd put in front of him still and we'll see when he's 17

Well he is rather soft and small plus he didn't wow any of us offensively last year. His team will be stronger now, and since it is his draft year, he better bring out the goods. If he's a bit stronger/bigger he could have a big season and rise on the draft charts. But right now I'm barely ranking him as a top-10 draft eligibles out of the Q for 2014.

Needs to go into the dirty areas more, in front of the net, battle for pucks, etc. This coming season he will need to be the fastest and most skilled player on the ice nightly if he wants to impress. He is very small and had an average rookie year. Sherbrooke should be solid this coming season, and the fact he's made Hlinka tells me Audette has improved over the summer. He needs to have more than a PPG next year imo.

Audette has been excellent this season and has made quite the leap. He could be a steal in the second round. He is also much more confident and involved in all 3 zones.

Has 21 points and his team has 42 goals overall (participated in 50 percent of his team's goals).
Has had points in every game but two this season (13/15) despite being the focus of the other team.
Leads Sherbrooke in points by a significant margin.

What's the scouting report on him? Strengths, weaknesses, etc.
