Not one of the hyped players coming into the NTDP and I see why he wasn't, but he's good. He might not be 5'9 with the dangles, but he plays a game I think NHL teams are going to like. Two way right shot center. Has good details in his game. Not a true high level offensive player, but has some offense in his game and he has decent size already at 6'1 and can play in all situations and skates okay. His scoring is around the net and he's good in puck battles. Not going to get a lot of attention for highlights, but I could see him as a player who sees the way he plays age better than a lot of more hyped junior players. I would provisionally project a second or third round range (probably second). He's also young for the 2026 draft. Committed to BC.

Got curious and looked up the Button quote Hockeyville mentioned. Pretty lofty comp:
A player outside the top 10 that Button wants to draw attention to is forward Casey Mutryn, who is playing with the USNTDP U17 team this season.

With four goals and 14 points in 18 games this season, Mutryn also helped the United States to a fourth-place finish with eight points in five games.

“He reminds me of Jason Arnott,” said Button. “Jason was a good player and that’s what Casey reminds me of. Really good shot. Leads. He’s not going to run you over but he just takes over, he moves into a space and it’s like, it’s his space, you’re a visitor in his space. He owns the space.”

Wearing the “C” for the 17’s at the 4-Nations. This stuff can sometimes be passed around to test out different players in leadership roles, but a decent sign about his intangible qualities.
