Bad News.Any updates? Shame, was hoping the Flyers might land him.
Almost all of those guys are WHL guys too.Hoping it’s minor but it seems Canadian prospects are simply cursed. In the recent past we’ve seen massive debilitating injuries to Patrick, Glass, Vilardi, Dach, Lindstrom and now Schaefer, McQueen and Bear during or shortly after their draft years.
Didn’t Krebs tear his Achilles right before the draft? I think that’s a little different.Carters injury is reminding me a bit of a former WHL prospect with similar profile who had a freak Achilles injury… I wonder if he falls in the draft a bit like did Peyton Krebs… hopefully the injury doesn’t limit his long term upside.
I believe so, I just thought they appear to be very similar (WHL/High-Intensity). Krebs was a potential top 10 pick but fell in the draft, and I'm not sure the Achilles injury was serious enough to stunt him because he's barely a 4rth liner now.Didn’t Krebs tear his Achilles right before the draft? If you love, I got the right video for you. But who doesn't love
really ? He's like a future fan favorite !!
lol Krebs issues in the NHL have nothing to do with his injury.I believe so, I just thought they appear to be very similar (WHL/High-Intensity). Bear was rising and some believed he would be a top 10 pick, but its doubtful now. Hopefully he can fully recover because he's a fun player to root for.
He was around 9-14 before the injury, I bet he drops to the 13-18 range now. I’d still take him pretty high considering the other options, and I’m probably not alone.Damn that’s rotten luck. Such an exciting young player. Hopefully he recovers well and comes back next year as good as ever. After the Lindstrom fiasco, I think he probably falls to the bottom of the 1st round, possibly into the 2nd.

Average skillset? His primary selling point as a prospect is that he’s highly skilled + plays like a grinder on top of that; high skill + high intensity + grit.I admire Bear's intensity but I just worry that he's a really good junior player and that's it. Average height, average skating, and average skillset doesn't scream enough NHL success to justify a top 10-15 pick IMO.
Any player who scores 40 goals in any league has high skill...for that league. But does Bear have enough NHL skill to compensate for mediocre skating and average height? I’m not sure he does and coming off a severe leg injury doesn’t give me any further comfort.Average skillset? What a strange take.

A top 10 pick? I’m comfortable with him in the 15-25 range but I think there are better options earlier than that.He has the right tools for the "top six puck retriever" job. Great anticipation on the forecheck and great stickwork, gets the puck and gets it back on his teammates stick. Absolutely tireless. That's the kind of guy you'd love to have on the wing of more skilled teammates. I would have said before the achilles injury that he was a very safe pick.
