This keep just keeps trending up. If he keeps this up he's going to be a top 10 pick, especially with the 8-15 range wide open in this draft.

I'm not sure.

I see a lot of dynamism in Bear's game at the CHL-level, but of the two games of his that I watched this year all of Bear's points came off of what I'd call "junior plays" that wouldn't be there at the NHL level.

My sample size of views of him is very small to be fair. Maybe those performances aren't representative of his level of play this year, I don't know.

But what I did see of Carter Bear in those games was unimpressive defensive play, unenergetic backchecking, quite a bit of cherry-picking offensively, good reads offensively, some luck, a well-coached and impressive team around him, and very good but non-elite tools for the NHL on Bear's part.

So I could definitely see Bear being taken in the first round, he's got the skills and smarts for it, but I don't know if he will make it to the top-15, nevermind the top-10.

I like a guy like Cameron Schmidt a lot better for this year's draft; he's more skilled than Bear, faster, has better tools, but admittedly more red flags too given his size.

He's just gotten better and better at all facets of the game. Probably watched 20 of his games now since from last season. He's noticeably faster than last year, and has really worked on his shot. His defensive play was already solid from last year, and has continued this year. He's a feature on the penalty kill, and this year has been given top PP minutes and has obviously been rewarded with a ton of points.

Definitely top 15 at the moment. His offense might not get him in the top 10, but he's a kid that makes a difference on the ice with or without the puck.

Should be noted that he's basically the same age as Iginla, though, so his breakout is a year behind Iginla's and he probably shouldn't be put quite on the same level as a result.

You know who he reminds me of its Jarret stoll, but how they have cameron Schmitt rated higher than bear baffles me,bear has so much more dog in his game than cameron.watch him on the pk.

Nothing's wrong. The majority of "mainstream" scouts only scout the East and Eastern time zones. I find most of the internet writers are from the East. The ones watching on the West and big WHL/BCHL followers know what's up.

As for Schmidt, I find that Craig Button has an unexplainable fascination with him and pushes him in every article. Bearly mentions Bear in anything.

I think it's because there're hockey fans, instead of hockey experts or hockey scouts, most of fans only follow the players on their team, and update the information about them.

For those of you who have seen enough of him, do you think he’ll be a Center in the NHL? How is his skating and how good is he at faceoffs?
