Kids been over a PPG throughout his entire junior and has always been one of the best forwards of the Q but has been constantly overlooked by Hockey Canada for every event. Wonder if that will change come December.

Traded to Tampa

Interesting comments to then see what he's been doing in the ahl. Wondering what tampa or Syracuse can do to help his development improve because it sounded like a guy ready to make the jump. Then again no prospect is the same. Also wondering what Anaheim could have done better or what happened with Morand is the real question? Volkov just needed to go somewhere to get playing time as he wasn't getting as much as he liked in Tampa. Hard to crack the skill lines on that team.

His offense just sort of leveled out in the Q, he scored at a similar pace from his draft year on. He was a pretty solid defensive player and has some edge to his game but it just seemed like he never found the true offensive consistency to be a legitimate top 6 NHL prospect, and lacked some of the size that you would typically see in the bottom 6 guy. For what it's worth, I actually liked him a lot in San Diego this year, he's really worked on increasing his speed and has some good wheels. His play this year made me think that he still has the potential to make it in the NHL even if it wasn't in the offensive role that I would have pegged him for in his draft year.

Honestly I think Tampa is a perfect fit for an organization to get him there. You guys do very well with Q guys and players who fit his profile.

With our prospect depth chart the Ducks had no place for him to jump to the NHL as other prospects had been promoted such as Steel, Jones, Terry, Comtois, Lundestrom and they had played better than him in the AHL. I suppose if the Tampa skating coach makes Morand even faster like he's done with players like Point, then perhaps he could turn it completely around.

Has lots of work to do if he wants to get to the next level. I think think he's not being pushed to his physical potential. I think he can get better.

He was never one of the best forwards in the Q. Pretty big let down since his rookie season as his PPG never really improved by a lot like most top prospects do despite playing on great teams
