So does Texier come over next year in the import draft? If so, how does he do in the CHL coming from France's league? Any comparable situations?

These are very tough questions. NHL-wise I don't think it'd be a wise choice for him to stay in France (don't mean to offend anyone), so he should look for other opportunities. The CHL (QMJHL) would be a good choice, but he could also see if he gets a chance of "moving up" to NLA. I guess the final answer depends heavily on which team ends up taking him in the draft.

I don't think he'd have a problem transitioning into the CHL leagues, should he decide to come over. I've only seen clips of his play though, take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Is the French league tougher than the CHL? Maybe because of the age of the players, but the CHL still has alot of future NHL players.Hmm maybe I'd say even despite the age difference, the CHL, especially the OHL is tougher competition.

Well, it's been a while for me here.

But I saw this thread and I had to post something.

The first round of the playoffs just ended for Texier and Grenoble, and I was lucky to see him play twice more in the arena. And this kid is just amazing. He has an impressive hockey IQ and isn't afraid to lead the charge.

He carried the whole series with Hardy. He has a great vision, a very good wrist shot, needs to toughen up (for sure), but if he can make it to Switzerland or a CHL league next season, he could become a good NHL player.

He has a lot of talent and isn't afraid to show it.

Yep, 5 playoffs games, 4 goals, 4 assists and +4.
Lucky you to see that (sorry for your team though !)

And a couple of great goals he scored. I've seen him 4 times this season, and what an improvement between regular season and playoff games for him.

I think he can be in France's roster in Paris and he wouldn't be bad at all.

Another goal in game 6 of the semifinals to tie the game at 2.
Breakaway.
He was very good in that game and nearly scored another one on a wraparound. Grenoble lost in OT so there's a game 7 on sunday.

And Grenoble is shutout 2-0, ending their season. Hope Texier both makes the national team for the World Championships and is given the chance to showcase himself there.

Yep. He tried a lot today, had some nice moves. Was impressed with his compete level - not afraid to mix it up - and puck control. Grenoble wasn't very good today, he was one of the few bright spots.

What are the changes that players like Alexandre are picked in the draft, who are from obscure leagues like this? Has this happened before?
