IMO:

liles - vet presence and from all accounts a good dressing room figure

grabo - wears his heart on his sleeve, one of the only guys that gives 110% game in and out, leader by example


Giving lupul an A would be well deserved too and could add more incentive to resign here (personally id be shocked if he didnt he seems to enjoy TO life and hes having success here), but I think there is NO way that for all the effort and heart grabo has put into this team + the recent contract renewel he has earned a letter.... liles just seems like a smart choice too

[C] Phaneuf - I believe hes doing a good job leading the group.
[A] Grabovski - He's a heart and soul player and gives it his all on the ice. Definitely may not be as vocal as Phaneuf, or others on this team, but he leads by example, has been with us for a while and just signed a multi year deal recently.
[A]Lupul/Kessel - Would be happy with either choice. I would give it to Lupul, as he is more vocal out of the 2. Leave the goal scoring to Kessel.

C - Dion
A - Lupul
A - Komi/Liles

This has my vote, as well, with Liles over Komi.

Id always prefer a leader on defence, a leader in the top 6, and a leader in the bottom 6.

I keep thinking that Lupul will be the next captain. Maybe not this season but soon. Whenever he comes up in the media it is generally in a positive light and he seems to be a well spoken and likeable guy. I could be completely wrong but it just seems pretty clear that new ownership wants a new image. So in the meantime, if he's not given the C, I'd hope Lupul gets the A. And that's not bashing Phaneuf...I like his style. Just wondering if more image change is coming.

My other choice would be Grabo for the A. Carlyle called him a warrior last year after the first couple games and practices (can't remember the exact quote or time but that was pretty close). I've always been a big fan of his. Silent leader.
