Here’s hoping he manages to score instead of hitting the post against Colorado.Byfield is on a trajectory to become the next Bryan Smolinski.

Certainly right up thereI still think this is second to only McSorely for what-if's in Kings history.
It would have been so damn cool if the Kings had beat those f'ers
Someone explain the constant fumbled passes and regression back to tentative passing again

Inconsistent players aren’t as uncommon as people think. For any of us old guys, one notable one was the Kings current director of player development, he would go 10 games where he looked like he was on the cusp of stardom, and then would be on a milk carton for 10 games.
Agree always been a supporter of him but it's just incredibly frustrating seeing his performance be like a damn theme park roller coaster.I'm one of Byfield's biggest defenders and I can't
Byfield is one of the most maddening I can remember, though
With a lot of other guys, it's inconsistency of production...that happens to almost all players on some level
This guy goes from Malkin for 5 games to Nick Bjugstad for another 5, the only really 'visible' explanation seems to be confidence but it's like he loses all touch as if he's got dead arms
I could defend it when he was ramping up throughout the season after learning a new position and linemates but this last stretch defies outside explanation, a game or two sure, maybe tired, sick, not feeling it for whatever reason...but from blazing hot and looking like it to totally ice cold and looking like he needs a map to find the rink.
Yea I go to bat for him all the time also. Hes bobbling pucks right now like he did in his rookie year. He has big swings in his overall play where its two steps forward then 3 steps back.I'm one of Byfield's biggest defenders and I can't

Keep shitting on QB's performance. Got it.
It's fascinating the number of posts you dedicate to this topic. You're right.
If somebody had told you on draft night 2020 that this is where he would be at the end of the 2025 season you totally would have been happy with that.
Interesting at the anger at comparing him to players that he is statistically on par with (or slightly less) or some of his most vocal supporters complaining about his consistency is "shitting on him", but comparing him to Malkin, Jack Hughes and Kopitar despite not being in the same universe is totally fair and acceptable.

Thank you. I've learned that if I avoid pointing out the ignorance that runs rampant on this board, I have a better chance of staying alive. It's not easy though...one day at a time. You are free to do what so many choose do to you, and ignore me.
BTW, pretty impressive you have made it to April 8th without being banned again, I would have set the o/u date at April 1st. This has to be a new record.
The goal was amazing, but his uninspired turnover during the 4v4 for the GWG against is exactly why he is still a maddening player.

Correct. It was an awful, awful play.Overskated into 3 guys and didn’t even attempt a shot leading to a odd man rush and the gwg

Most of the production difference between Stutzle and Byfield over the last two seasons is PP assists, most of which are secondary assists for Stutzle. Speed up puck movement on the power play and the difference will shrink. Was thinking about QB’s production issues..
I think a huge part of of his inconsistency and dips in production is his pp time. He isn’t getting enough of it. PP production creates more opportunities to score and helps production (and confidence) during dips in form. We’ve all seen players in poor form still get pp points whilst essentially neutered in terms of 5/5 player.
I’m not saying he doesn’t need more consistency, he does. However more pp time would even out his production dips and stop his confidence dropping. On top of that he should be on pp1 as default anyway.
Anyway, I’ll now go back to overthinking.
It's a little surprising but true
That as much as we want more from Byfield, the biggest difference between the two's production at this point is a functional PP
