The last two games far too loose and very lackadaisical with the puck.

Oh well, at least they got the win. Igor was dynamite when he needed to be, especially late in the third and in OT.

Imo i doubt they remove Trochek from that line.

They are ass 5v5 I think.. That's a problem for when the teams start to tighten it up (like from now on).

Because it's "working" even though Lafreniere has like 2 points since Chytil got hurt.

I swear, if a player got polio and the Rangers immediately went on a winning streak, they wouldn't send him for treatment.

And that's not a comment on Trocheck who has played very well. It's just not as good of a line as 10-72-13 was.

Just feels like the Rangers don't have the same sense of urgency as their opponents. Oilers and Sabres need every point they can get right now, Rangers are basically just going through the motions with the buffer they've given themselves.

There was very little to sing praises about, Buffalo took it to them all night. I know they have a lot of skill up front but man.

man i must have watched a completely different hockey game than some of you. we out shot them. probably out attempted them to considering buffalo blocked twice as many shots as us (many of them desperation shot blocks). we were garbage in the first 6 or 7 minutes of the 2nd period. other than that we outplayed buffalo.

As we both touched on, it's a very bad matchup for us.

Our overrated ass defense has a lot of trouble handling speed and skill and lack of that is not why they Sabres lose. They lose because of what happened tonight - the other team scores 4 goals even when they barely get possession.

That third pairing was an adventure tonight. -3 in 11 es minutes

Benched them after the 3rd goal. Gus might have gotten a few seconds of PP time, but Schneider didn't see the ice. As a matter of fact, we usually see Fox, then Gus or Miller in OT. Went Fox, Miller, Fox. Probably says something and that's even with Miller treating the puck like a hand grenade all game.

Did not like Igor sliding back into his net on the second goal, otherwise he was fire though and more than made up for it. Laf ripping it still when it’s the right play, eventually they’ll start sneaking in for him. Won’t discuss turnovers because I harp on that all the time and I’m tired of it, especially after an exhilarating OT win.

We desperately desperately need chytil back. More so than kakko we need a legit 3C. Bonino doing way way more than he should ever be asked to do.

Can we afford to wait? Yes of course we’ve earned that. But to be clear we don’t get out of the first round without a real 3C. And we do need GOOD middle 6 kakko back. Not the garbage player he was thru 20 games. I mean last years kakko we need that guy back badly too.

The other thing heavily skewing this game is Laf blowing all those chances so it becomes "look at all the chances we had."

You're way more likely to remember the Rangers blowing a chance than the other team. Also, that was line was good. So was the ZIbanejad line. The bottom six got absolutely ripped in half.

Yeah that is fair, this team went from being 3 deep at center to garbage after Trocheck. It makes a difference if you are able to move Trocheck down or put Chytil at 3c it lengthens the lineup so to speak.

That wasn’t a good game but I’d hardly say it was bad.

I thought Mika, Cuylle, Laf and a few others stood out in a positive way. Laf in particular is next level snakebitten. It’s really frustrating. He doesn’t even get gifted secondary assists - the shooter rings it off the post.

Miller was the worst Rangers tonight from my perspective. Whatever that personal issue was seems to still be lingering. He’s just an idiot out there sometimes. I really miss the human eraser he was developing into in the 2022 playoffs.

The big problem is the play of the top 2 pairings. Both are below 50% xG for the season. Very unusual for Lindgren-Fox but not so much for the other pair. That is what they are since they have been out together. For whatever reason Lindgren and Fox are struggling and if they don’t turn it around the Rangers have to think about looking for someone outside the organization.

I'm still way more concerned about the defense corps.

The forward corps will get better when it's healthy.

The defense corps won't get better until the Rangers stop trying to convince themselves the one they have is good.

Literally the only spot I wouldn't attempt to upgrade given the opportunity is Fox.

It wasn't that bad. Stop it. FWIW Moneypuck had the game as basically even. That trend has included wins against LA, Toronto, and Boston in which they gave up 4 goals in the 3 games.

No.

The GF% for the Trocheck combo is heavily skewed by terrible luck, you're right about that, but even so, the "expected" numbers are better for the Chytil combo.

Even on paper, I like Chytil much better with Panarin and he's always been solid with Lafreniere. I don't care for Trocheck and Panarin as a combo. It's the same old "grindy boy with Panarin" bullshit that has never actually been good but we made up that it's good for some reason.
