I'll never understand that contract he got.

At the time it was a good decision honestly. Unfortunately he has not been able to stay healthy at all and has missed major major development time. His game has regressed terribly because of that and never staying healthy enough to get in a rhythm.

But the year he signed that contract he looked like a mini Hjalmarsson

Justin Holl. He should have been bought out last summer. With only 1 season to go at 3 million it would be a cheap buyout too and create a spot for ASP

For sure, but if he doesn't his buyout isn't too terrible. I think it's like 1.4 in year one and under a million for year two.

Buyout:

1.4+0.8=2.2 total cap hit.

Sending Haula to the minors

3.15-1.15= 2 mill total cap hit.


You're better off keeping haula in the minors or as a 13th F, even if you think he's not an NHL caliber player (which is ridiculous)

Even if you ignore year 2, you're going to be incredibly disappointed if you think you can find a C better than Haula for 1.7 mill without giving up additional assets
