Papineau has a history of over valuing his players and doesn’t listen to reason. I know for a factOHL4Life is right on. Gms in this league laugh at him and you can take that to the bank. He is very, very fortunate Dario is the owner and very gullible when it comes to Papineaus decision making.

I think he’s done after this year, at least that’s the noise around the league

You make it sound that over valuing your players is a bad thing. I don’t get your logic. Because we are the forgotten team in the North we gotta bow to other teams. To me, you value your players and set the price. If teams don’t wanna pay it no problem move on. Just like Owen Beck and other elite players they don’t have to accept a trade.
Better get use to it because if Paps decide to sell Walton and Villy next season it will be the same story.
When you have a destination that isn’t one of the more popular southern teams you gotta get value for your trades.

Is getting no value better than market/slightly under value? That's the issue - if you have a talented player like Musty is it not better to get something than letting him walk for nothing?

You can’t try to sell other Gms that your Third liners are first liners they just laugh in your face. Last year the Wolves were a legitimate contender with the biggest hole being goaltending which was identified in November. What did he do, dealt for a backup goaltender on one of the worst teams in the league and went with arguably the worst goalie going down the stretch in Vondras. I can tell you for a fact the players were shocked no upgrade was made.

Which of Barrie, Oshawa, Niagara, Kingston, Brampton or Brantford are you expecting to beat and then which of the others are you beating second round?
Well we just beat Barrie tonight. Missing Musty too. Not too shabby. In fact most games the Wolves have played Barrie this year have been close. Should of at least won two of them.

The Wolves could have had Patrick Roy in net and they would have lost. KMac was the pivotal mistake last year. The moment he signed on to coach it was Paps huge error! The year was doomed in July.

5 4 3 2... let the trades be announced. Now that Team WTF has been eliminated trades can be announced ???
Oh it was the refs, listening to these announcers was sickening ,oh the 5 min major was robbery,oh the knee on knee was robbery they lost because of refereeing. Take the microphone out of the hands of McKenzie.

Last year they waited until Monday before they made the trades for the Team Canada players eliminated early.

He was right. But if you listened to his whole point of view, it was on the team for being in this position to begin with. If they had showed up for this tourney, they never would have been playing the Czechs tonight.
If they could score, it would never have come down to some bad calls in this game. They should have been playing an easy out tonight.

Just about everything the panel said tonight was true and on point.

Yeah, but this whole “We wouldn’t’ have been playing Czechia” is bullshit. Sorry but the Q-Final should always be won. After that win, they play Sweden and then USA instead of USA then Sweden. I could argue that strategically speaking, it was better to have a bit of a tougher game because going up against USA in the Semi-Fianl would have sucked. IMO, they are the top team. Sweden is beatable. Getting to the gold Medal game, on an easier route is more important and if you cannot beat Czechia, then it is what it is.

To be clear, had we won the USA game, we’d play Switzerland but assuming USA beats Czechia, we’d have played USA in the Semi-Final. The loss vs USA put us on a path to Sweden in the semis. This is based on how they reseed teams after each round.

My understanding is once the players are eliminated from the tournament, the trade freeze is over (for those players). However, last year they allowed the players to go home for the weekend and mull over the trade. The Beck deal was rumoured as done before the tournament was over but he waited until Monday to give his consent to be moved to Saginaw.

I imagine it will be similar this year. Players will return home, their club teams will reach out with the potential deals and go from there. Pinelli, Gibson, and Luchanko would be the three but it sounds like only Pinelli and Gibson have deals on the table to look at. There is no indication Guelph has moved Luchanko.

I agree. To win gold you have to beat whoever they put in front of you.

Bottom line is, this team, the way it was constructed, the way it was coached, and the way the players executed, was really life and death to get into a medal game.

Any medal game.

If that's the case, and I have zero reason to doubt you, he shouldn't be allowed to buy and stupidly mortgage the future for someone else to clean up.

And who would want that job going forward? Certainly nobody qualified. Less than desirable location and zero assets to work with.

Really? A clean slate with an understanding that time is needed to rebuild; and Villeneuve & Walton to sell in a rebuild

Horner and Dever out of the starting lineup tonight in Flint. 67’s playing two skaters short. Health or trade?

EDIT: Horner missed yesterday’s game with a groin injury so no big deal there. No word on Dever.
