Post-Game Talk: Built. Different.

One of the fastest reviews we have seen too. McCauley went in with the sole purpose of looking for an excuse to justify the goal call and grabbed onto the coincidental skate touch and dropped the head set. Just gross. Thank goodness we still won.

That reminded me of Game 5 against the Ducks on the pad pull where I don't know if they reviewed it more than 20 seconds before deciding they were going to change the series.

Most of the time those close goalie interference reviews take forever, regardless of which way the call goes. You know they've decided already when they rush it.

Underdiscussed aspect of that first FLA goal was how Bennett hooked Walman in front of the net and prevented him from going to the corner to get to the loose puck.

100% - at the game I was more livid about that then the actual goal. I thought I might have missed something when I saw almost no discussion about it. McAuley was staring right at it and it was clear, lets it go, goal goes in, triples down on the review.

That idiot went 3/3 on that sequence.

Ignored blatant and impactful hook in front

Ignored goalie interference on the goal

3 second review to confirm it as the cherry on top

He is a rancid, rancid referee.

Saw this. Bouch takes some heat here but we're watching an absolute elite gamer who's added playoff PK work to his resume.

Bouch leads the entire NHL in playoffs +/- for the past 2 seasons, and he set a playoff record for points by a d-man last year.

Check this out:

Makar would actually be close in points if he had 24 more GP, but he's also on pace to be a -10 if he played that many games.

Hrudey doubles down on being an unabashed Oiler hater. Maybe he’s secretly Rejean from CP.
That's just his shtick, never let the Canadian media get you down because it's all fabricated, and in case you haven't noticed it's usually about 50% BS no matter what subject is being discussed. That's what you get with state funded media or any sponsored media for that matter.

Makar is a beastly player too and my love of him has slid to what we have in our own backyard.

Feel like these two are just on a whole other level.

Yes I remember. People talk about the Colin Campbell thing like it's some sort of conspiracy but we have actual evidence of him manipulating games for his son's benefit and the league didn't even reprimand him. It's not even a conspiracy haha.

Bingo. I love how certain people who liked this post are simultaneously liking the polar opposite take. Some people need to read better.

Calling out the refs doesn't make you a conspiracy theorist, it just means you're paying attention to something that should be obvious to anyone who has been watching this team since at least 2017, and in particular, since the series against Anaheim.

Does anyone who has been watching Florida in these playoffs honestly believe that Edmonton would get away with anywhere close to the same shit? Oh, because Nurse didn't get suspended for Roope having brittle bones?

I love watching Makar and McKinnon play hockey. IMO Avs fans are as spoiled as we are.

I'd add Quinn Hughes to that list though... As much as I dislike the 'Nucks, QH is in the same league with Bouch and Makar imo.

Does anyone else remember the Campbell Files?

Are we supposed to think things have changed at all since then?

All strong points that I guarantee will not be refuted on here.

There comes a point where believing in so many coincidences makes you sound crazier than believing in a so-called conspiracy.

Quinn Hughes is by far THE BEST Canuck player by a ton. And he will soon be one of the best Jersey players when his contract is done, and he joins his brothers.

I feel like they took 8 minutes to try and justify the Cale Makar non off side.

We are talking about a league that changed the 4v4 rules in the 80s because the Oilers were doing too well 4v4.
The Brett Hull foot in the crease. There are a million blatant examples.

The league has always been crooked as f***. Its not a question of if corruption still exists, but how much.

Pro sports is corrupted. Period. Still we watch. I prefer to watch the spectacular plays Oilers are making and the stellar attention to details and defending and transition than worrying about the zebras or Campbells.

Should be easy for the hockey to be the focus.

Yup. As far as reality TV goes, I will watch corrupted major league sports before investing time in the real housewives of (insert insipid city name here) or bachelor(ette) any day of the week.

Or the Cancom mandated guidelines that force and delineate programs of specific type to be on. Now its not about even a concept of a program or being good. Its what it reps. The programs are commercials now between the commercials.

Drai was @30%

Hopefully we can get more from 3rd line. Brown didnt look like himself. 4th line looked good. Podz is one of my favs now. What a beauty. We have another year at 1mil with him. I say if he keeps it up, he got a deal next year. 10 OA pick not given a chance in Vancouver. Bowman got him for a 4th. Wow is all I can say. Thx Vancouver
Bowman and your scouts definitely have a good eye to find those under-rated players. It's a rare skill it seems. Only other organization in recent memory I can think of who's done the same is Zitto in Fla (Forsley, Reinhart). They really are the 2 best teams from top to bottom.

Knoblauch said he would challenge that every time based on what he has seen from the NHL and I would have agreed with him. How many goals has Hyman had called back. I would be willing to bet that on at least 95% of those there was at least incidental contact with the oppositions defenseman. There was no way that you could call what Kulak did a trip. Bennett backed up and clipped Kulak's skate and then used this as an excuse to sit on Skinner.
But don't you know? Kulak needed to make room for Bennett to back up. Maybe Knoblauch now realizes it's a different set of rules when it comes to FLA.

I guarantee if Toronto signs him like what is rumoured, he'll get suspended within the first 12 months and the narrative will completely change.
Doesn't he usually only play that way in the PO? Would explain his lower production during the regular season. But you're right, he'll pull a Kadri and get suspended during the PO (assuming TML make it if Marner/Tavares walk).

It's very frustrating knob head doesn't stick up for his team more and is such a p***y at press conferences. Bennet intentionally fell back on skinner. Panthers took several cheap shots and interference against oilers as they have whole playoffs. Somebody tell knob head being so politically correct and nice and a total square isn't helping him with refs. And what's with mcdavid just casually accepting a push from marchand without standing up for himself. We need to stick up for ourselves more because being p***yes isn't getting us more calls
But reacting may result in more penalties. I think the Oilers are much more focused on discipline since that debacle in the 3rd period of the 1st game against Dallas. But I agree, I wish he would've said that Bennett backed up into Kulak, hitting Kulak's skate (not the other way around) which is why he challenged it.

It shouldn't matter what was said. Bennett needs to make an effort to avoid goalie contact in the crease even if knocked off balance.

A guy trying to catch himself will 100% of the time put his hands out to try to keep balance, not lead with the shoulder.

You would think Bennett would stop getting the benefit of the doubt at some point as he has crashed into every goalie he has played in these playoffs so far.....

Go check out the main boards for cringe, Leaf fans still think McDavid is going to Toronto
I remember reading that when O'Reilly signed with TML for one year, he didn't want to stay. Talked about too many suits in the locker room. Edm has a great facility, amazing fans and the players seem really close. Why would McDavid leave after Drai signed his extension? I do think Bowman will have to be creative to fit McDavid's new contract and Bouchard's raise under the cap which may be why there was talk of buying out Kane to free up that $5M in cap space. But Kane is such a rare commodity. Bowman will be earning his salary this summer.
