Post-Game Talk: Built. Different.

Kulak does nothing, it's all Bennett's acting ability. The response from the league's PR was embarrassing.

Slight brush of a skate and he goes back like he was shot. It's Bennett's entire M.O. Guy just flops on goalies. If I'm Kane or Perry and I feel a touch in front I'm sure as hell falling into Bob. Standard has been entirely set.

Any response is fair. We can't predict future. Perry didn't look good at several times last year. Its as if he rolled back the clock this year and is somehow far better, while being older. Perry has defied odds and then some. What we can't look off I guess is the man sure knows how to score goals.

I think it legitimately has to do with his son. Listening to him talk at the media day it’s pretty apparent just how badly he wants to win one for his son. He’s very smart, and seems arguably more driven than ever before

Apparently every Oilers player need to watch out for Florida guys just carelessly skating backwards towards our net. If you touch their foot they are allowed to dance a bit to redirect their fall directly into Skinner. Totally legal. Although if Kane did that, the ref would have been screaming no goal, and we would have lost the challenge if we tried to change the call.

So why are you arguing so passionately that he made two giveaways?

A. To show your dishonest attempt to discredit another poster and mocking them

B. To show that you don't comprehend that a picked off pass that directly lead to a partial 2 on 1 is indeed....a giveaway. I know you watched the game cuz you chased me around the GDT. How did miss that? You seem to know sooooooo much about hockey but you needed a stat site??? What gives?

McD saved Bouchards ass on that play...and here you are mocking ppl for acknowledging that it was a giveaway.

And before you twist it for the 3rd time.....this is NOT an attempt to bash Bouchard

Fridays game is going to be huge. Edmonton had the better game 1 last year too. Game 2 was arguably Florida's best game last year and I don't see them rolling over this year.

Couple things. It was mostly a one player screen that Bob didn't bother to look around. next his position is off. Arvid is a farside shooter. Rarely goes shortside. So he could cheat the other way a bit more. Probably not familiar with Arvid.

In fairness Arvid shot mechanics are a bit weird, or different, bit of a south paw shot and you'd just expect hi to go whortside from that wing.
Yeah if we’re being honest that goal had more than a hint of an odour from Bobrovsky. Lucky for Florida he was otherwise incredible.

We don't know the instructions the linesmen received before the game. Also, everyone other than Oiler fans thought it wasn't interference. There are times when the reffing sucks. Most of the time it is even with calls going both ways. It shouldn't be a point of focus.
What a load of BS you know every single non oilers fan? Google Anecdotal evidence..Everyone I spoke to said it was clear interference and it was. Who cares what insructions they received they were the wrong ones. The faceoffs were a joke. People who hate the oil are going to say it was the right call no matter what happened. Dylan Dubynk has a good breakdown as to why it was obvious interference...Ill take a players word over yours.

So the linesmen do as they are told and they are doing a bad job? It is the way fan bases react. Everyone thinks they get a raw deal. I don't necessarily agree with the interference call but we should quit being crybabies about how we are always so hard done by.

Frederic wasn't good at anytime of the season this year. not sure if he isn't just one of those players that runs around and does well initially and then not much of anything.

Next Frederic has always been casper the ghost in the playoffs. just an ordinary playoff player. He doesn't get anything in postseason.

Team may not want to extend this player. Not just his production down but he was -16 this season on even limited play. He's just plain bad now.

Frederic is one of those players that goes on streaks. He'll do nothing for 10 games at a time, but then win 3 straight games by himself, then disappear for another 10.

In some respects - that's frustrating and not good enough. But I'll give him credit - even when he's not really going he treads water well.

He's basically a budget version of Johan Franzen that is more physical.

Yesterday I thought we'd his worst game of the playoffs, but even then he wasn't particularly poor. Definitely a number of times where you'd have liked him to bear down and make a better play - but our third line was always going to lose the matchup against the Panthers third line.

One thing though - knowing he comes up huge when he's on - I find it hard to take him out. Particularly since we're at the end of his usual cadence of down games.

For the first time, I'm starting to come around on Stu Skinner. I just have to make sure I don't watch his pressers; for whatever reason he just rubs me the wrong way.

In the first period last night I had a bad feeling that he was up to his old tricks, flailing around and making bad plays with the puck. But he got better as the game went on and made some great saves in the second and third. He has been consistently improving ever since the LA series and was a crucial element in last night's victory.

His save percentage is over .900 now with three shutouts, he's 7-4, and he stopped the last 25 shots he faced last night. Say what you want about the defence in front of him and how that contributes to his success, but at some point you have to acknowledge the numbers. He's giving us exactly what we said we needed before the playoffs began, and maybe a bit more.

It's about planting seeds my man. It has never hurt any team this playoffs.

Knob doesn't have to act like a fool. Just talk in an articulate manner about non calls, etc. We just brush it completely away.
He's actually done that many times this post season, a lot of times with subtle digs at the league that went unnoticed if one wasn't paying close attention.

Nothing to do with any fan base your are cracked. That officiating is poor period and we should expect better. Sorry your standards are so low.

We win the f***ing game no one is blaming officiating. The quality is poor…. Both ways

A few thoughts after a nights sleep and covering much of what has been said:

  • I don’t know how it’s not interference. The opposing player still has to make some effort and he did the complete opposite. Bad call, good challenge regardless of the 2 goal swing. I think it created an us against them mentality. Also on that play was the missed hook that prevented Walman from attempting the retrieval.
  • Perry has to watch his stick. The two penalties were sloppy, but I will say in the trip case there was a very healthy embellishment that could have been called.
  • The linesman were an absolute joke. I’ve never seen that many draws get redone and guys get tossed out of the circle. It was like we were paying to watch them.
  • Florida is making a mockery of the icing and no change rule, the amount of time they took damn near every time as they feigned confusion, sent out the wrong guy to only have to swap again was something I’ve never witnessed. Warn them and penalize them.
  • Oilers outside of the Bennett goal defended well. That was just an abomination. It was almost a 2 on 4 that they somehow turned into an in zone breakaway. Easily correctable.
  • The breakout needs some work, the forwards are either flying early or the defence isn’t moving quick enough but it left too much space and too many Panthers between the d and the forwards. Too many turnover and passes to nowhere were an issue with this. The Center is gonna need to delay a bit to give an option here.
  • Panthers super aggressive on the pk, which is what cost them the ot goal but the player up high better be alert cause they are looking to breakfree.
  • Wingers need to be a bit more assertive when the d ring the puck around. Too many times they got on the wrong side of the puck there and lost the battle.
Won the game, but have some work to do which is also a good sign.

You don't think Stony Oil is an Oilers fan? I thought it was interference. I see why it was called interference. It was a close call, didn't go our way. But let's take away from a great win by doing tons of bitching about a call that went the other way.
I never said that? Reread what I responded too
