Post-Game Talk: Built. Different.

Bouchard has taken his game to another stratosphere even from where it was last playoffs. He put up the bigger offensive numbers last playoffs but I feel his overall game is even better in this run which is crazy considering how he played during the season with so many brain farts. Some players are made for playoff hockey, Bouch is one of them. He's going to get the huge contract and he'll be worth every penny of it.

Agreed. His stick work and positioning has improved tremendously. He’s turned from an elite offensive dman into just a flat out elite dman

He was in beast mode for sure.
Also a Kane hit is not the same as a Hyman or Kapanen hit. He goes right through the opponents doing a lot more damage. His 9 hits must have left big marks on the Panthers.
Go take a look at every hit hyman has made this playoffs I guarantee you 90 percent of them are as hard as any Kane hit this playoffs.

1) They’re ‘more debatable’ when it’s serial offender and known dirtbag Sam Bennett. Same as it would be for Corey Perry, except worse because Bennett has gone after opponents goaltenders in EVERY series of this calendar year. It’s so f***ing obvious at this point.

2) They’re ‘more debatable’ when it’s the Florida Panthers getting away with whatever they want because daddy is up top looking out for them. That sort of blatant conflict of interest should not be allowed in a pro league. Even the appearance of it.

These are facts. They resulted in the dirtbag Panthers having an extra goal on the board last night. You can’t handwave that away because Kane stepped into a scrum where nobody had dropped the gloves and Mikkola immediately fled like the coward he is. Or because you think this is the ‘best hockey we’ll ever see’. Lol.
Well whatever. It is the best hockey played. Try to enjoy it a little. Was a great game.

Harpoon: "I really need to call out Drive on something. really anything. So integral. lol

Drive: Wow I'm happy about this game, what a great game!

Harpoon: I'm here to piss on your parade. Stop happy joy ;)

The amount of time that was wasted after Florida iced the puck last night deserves to be talked about too. For one of them (and it was an issue for most of them) there was almost 3 minutes of time elapsed before the puck was dropped to resume play. Again, there was a lot of manipulation going on last night.
It should be a delay of game penalty.

People still crying about the refs.

You realize they called more penalties against Florida than they did us? Sure there were lots missed but on both sides. Loose the rose colored glasses. This year's playoffs for us have been the best they've call is years. Quite fair.
You have to exclude puck over glass penalties. Those are not subjective.

Thinking of spending the stupid amount of money it costs to get tickets to fly from TO to Edmonton for game 5. I live in London, but still leaf land. Anyone have any idea's on the best place to get a hotel room. Any gems to consider or what have you? Likely the play is to try and get into the Moss Pit to watch the game. My 17 year old son and I need to experience this crazy energy we keep seeing on TV.

Although they did call a phantom one on Walman earlier in the playoffs just for fun. Just memory wiping the linesman that said he heard it hit the glass, plus ignored how you could clearly see the puck change it's flight path hitting the top of the glass.

Good times :)

Walman deserved getting to laugh at Nosek last night

Frederic seems injured still. I've watched him on Boston and he played with plenty more pace, he just doesn't have his skating legs.
I'd insert Skinner into the lineup in place of him. The Oilers have enough physicality without him in the lineup to deal with Florida.
Frederic wasn't good at anytime of the season this year. not sure if he isn't just one of those players that runs around and does well initially and then not much of anything.

Next Frederic has always been casper the ghost in the playoffs. just an ordinary playoff player. He doesn't get anything in postseason.

Team may not want to extend this player. Not just his production down but he was -16 this season on even limited play. He's just plain bad now.

You are right, I guess they are subjective even though they group together and cackle about them.

The only penalties these losers will call are pretty much the least important. High sticks that are almost always irrelevant to the play, puck over glass which is almost always irrelevant to the play, and blatant trips that have varying degrees of relevance, but they will call it every time nonetheless.

Basically if there is an outcome they can follow (player falls down, player hit in face, puck over boards), they will enthusiastically call it every time because there is no room for debate. A blatant hook? Blatant interference? Blatant roughing? Those require these clowns to actually do their job and make an interpretation and call it. Not to mention those are the penalties that actually have relevance to the flow of the game. They won't though.

I was absolutely one of the doubters. I like Perry but he looked slow and used-up in the finals last year. When we signed him this summer, my literal comment was “why?” I’m overjoyed to have been so very wrong.
It’s funny because that was the one signing on July 1 that everyone had a collective WTF. Turns out it was the best of the deals made that day.

The mere watching of sports and being fans means that there will be plays we see different ways, calls, non calls. Even in Tennis used to be pretty bad for that and somewhat improved with the sensors and better line calls now.

Its just kind of odd the Oilers had the most spectacular game 1, a come from behind win and in OT on a beauty goal and setup and most of the talk is officiating.

How about how gloriously well the Oilers are playing? This is the best any Oiler team has looked since arguably 1988. They played 80 minutes of almost error free hockey. They live in the Panthers heads after a game like this. Lets not let the officials be in our heads. ;)

Any response is fair. We can't predict future. Perry didn't look good at several times last year. Its as if he rolled back the clock this year and is somehow far better, while being older. Perry has defied odds and then some. What we can't look off I guess is the man sure knows how to score goals.

100% with you in terms of our play, but outside of goaltending I think the officials are the biggest risk to us in this series. It's a worthy point to discuss.

Two goals were put on the board because of Wes McAuley and it could have changed the series and the outcome of the champion. It's totally unacceptable.

1 goal was. I can't agree with you on being 2 because the Oilers chose that route, to challenge, and allowed the goal on the pk. I get what you mean but not gonna count 2.

Just to be clear I think the NHL should book history on such players and tactics as Bennett. But its crystal clear that they don't. The Oilers know that, that the NHL will be completely oblivious to anything Bennett does, he could be smashing a chair over a goalies head (jk, just making a reference) and the NHL would play 3 blind mice.

So that its possible to think both it was Bennett being Bennett, and that the NHL wasn't going to take the goal back.

100% this. With our team playing well across the board, the concern ceases to be individual players (though I don't love that Nurse-Kulak pairing) and now becomes the officiating.

Walman was a beast, Bouch+Ek were great. Thought Kulak really struggled.

For forwards, everyone but the Frederic-Henrique-Brown line was really going.

Skinner good, again.

Thought we won despite maybe not having our A+ game, good sign moving forward.

JUST. KEEP. WINNING.
Kulak didn't struggle to the degree that say Ceci or VD would. Theres perceived struggle due to him being a mortal D playing along giants. Its that the other D are looking so good. Any opponent of ours that we've seen, every series has D that are struggling more.

I would not be surprised if Kane starts some of this like he did with Dallas....
