Post-Game Talk: Built. Different.

Brown deserves a pass considering he’s been out. Frederic needs to be better
Yeah, I have all the faith in Brownie to not only play solid, but make a big play in this series at some point.

Frederic on the other hand, yikes. I think he is Bowman's 1 big miss. Sucks, because I thought he could be Hyman lite on a Drai line, but the guy just doesn't effect the game positively that often. Hits like he is made of pillows most times, missed some great chances. Hopefully he gets his moment, but ya can't help but think Jeff Skinner could be more effective in that spot.

IIRC The Athletic had the Panthers heavily favoured last year. This year without the Hyman injury it was going to be basically 50/50 but Zach being hurt gives the edge to Florida.

They did say, though Florida's forecheck is super aggressive and a large reason for their success, that this year they haven't faced a D corps that can move the puck as well as the Oilers.

I think we need to have as many puck movers on D as we can. I think Klingberg got better and in the 3rd and OT, couple of troubling moments aside, the breakouts were probably better than last year
Forechecking a D that has 6 puck movers would be exhausting. Lots of hauling ass back to your own zone.

Frederic never recovered from his high ankle sprain. Oilers didn’t do their homework into how bad that was. I’ve watched him in Boston and he normally has way more jump. Just looks a step behind which makes sense if he can’t skate like normal. Not exactly a guy who could afford to lose a step.

Podz laid several. He’s flying out there. It’s very obvious he loves big games, he is not one of those guys that wilts in these moments. And he’s never played in the finals before, same with Kapanen, they both looked great
Seems like a sneaky strong hitter. When he played for the Canucks the announcers said the LA Kings would just give him the puck in the corner to avoid the hit. Not sure which D that was lol

I’m sure Frederic isn’t healthy but yeah, he barely moves the needle at all.

Exactly. You need to play each game but also know your strategy can have longer-term effects.

This is Florida's 3rd straight Finals. It takes a lot. You have motivation last year because you previously lost out. But now you won and you're playing the same team you beat by one goal in 7 games and they might be better than last year. Your antics won't work against this team.

I wouldn't make any D changes. I've never been a huge Frederic fan so throw in Skinner if need be.

I never watched Walman too much in Detroit or San Jose so always thought of him as a one trick offensive pony.

But damn is that guy a warrior and way better defensively then I thought
Right with you
I can't believe the Oil has another D that is proving to be absolutely crucial to their success. Walman is unreal. Him and Ekholm are amazing adds.
