Interesting time on ice for the defensemen. Nurse with almost 28 minutes. Walman with almost 25. Kulak with 22 minutes (!). Bouchard with 18. Emberson with just under 15. And Stetcher with 12.

Surprised with how many minutes Nurse played and with how few Bouchard played. I think he's usually over 20. When Ekholm gets back, they'll have to balance those minutes out more.
3 PKs, 0 powerplays, and no Ekholm. The deployment makes sense for the game situation.

Whoever posted this in the gdt hope you don't mind if I re-post it here cause LOL.

Nobody is a more pompous ignoramus than that f***ing clown.

If Gregor and Spector were stranded on a desert island, and I happened upon them while piloting my two person boat, able to save just one, you can be damn sure Gregor would spend whatever remained of his life eating f***ing coconuts.

Lots of talent on the team but a fragile psyche. The dynamic duo will have to be lights out most nights from here to the end but that's their job and they begrudgingly know it. Don't count on any 2-1 games.

Mc-D is still the most exciting player in the World to watch--that 4th goal was pure poetry.

As for the trades, well it will take a while to evaluate. We are still discussing the Henrique deal a year after the fact.

another game where I don’t see the point of playing Janmark
This was actually a game where he was decent to my eye?

Seemed fast and on the forecheck.

Overall the line right now is total doodoo. We better hope it does something in the playoffs

One sobering thing is the Stars basically played one period tonight. The Oilers lately have been susceptible to teams taking the puck to our net and making plays around our net. Soon as Stars rolled up sleeves and just played no nonsense and winning puck battles they were caving us.

Even in these W's I remember the Ducks caving this D and goaltending. I dunno. Sure we'll get Ekholm back but not the viking he's been. He hasn't been that this season. Lots of puck watching from both teams defending. Lots of panic too.

This won't be good for anybodies blood pressure but here we are.

Special teams staff needs to swallow their pride and change it up.

PK system makes no sense for the personnel that this team has. This team feels like it should prioritize not allowing cross seam passes, not running a system that allows them more frequently. What am I missing?

So uh the problem with that is that's the system they're attempting to run. Same as last year.

I think it's called a Diamond+1 or Triangle+1 PK. 3 guys down low, 2 defencemen at the posts, F1 in the slot. That's supposed to prevent cross-seam passes. The F2 at the top plays a bit higher than F1 and attempts to keep the puck on one-side of the ice by forcing the D to pick a side. Then he slides down to block the seam giving the D with the puck the only option of either going lower down into the zone or passing to his D partner which resets the PK.

Ex:

The problem is they've been absolute trash at executing it this year.

What happened after this screengrab is the guy for Dallas in the right corner (Duchene) gets the puck from the D. He button hooks and Brown doesn't respond quickly enough to slide lower, as a result the seam opens up and Rantanen scores.
