To be honest I don't see a scenario where the Habs win this game. Levi will start and play lights out and the Habs will give up at least 4 goals.
All is well in Habs land
you just don't honestly know what to expect, that's what makes it NOT worth buying tickets !!! they better put Gorton in a rubber room if they lose this one,his fists can't afford another home embarrassment.

Sabres will be playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, right ? We are at home and they are dropping their last 10 games. If we lose tonight, then .....

Win win situation,

We win, ''the boy's are on the right track''
We lose ''you guy's need to be patient''

No urgency in the front office often translate to no urgency on the ice.

We will lose this game tonight and the usual suspects will come crawling outside and think we are DA SABRES or DA SENS!!!

The trade thread will be bumping tonight with all sorts of wild suggestions to tear the team apart for an even more egregious tank.
I'm ready to contribute!

Again it would be character issues and Reinbacher's potential ceiling. Unless Michkov was only coming over if Phialdelphia drafted him.
It might be partially about size, or that might just be for the media, but I doubt that is the whole story.
Yeah, I couldn't find the exact story, but I remember after the draft Bobrov mentioned they were looking to diversify their lineup by selecting Reinbacher to help the blue line. Michkov’s attitude was also seen as not stellar, and that likely also factored into their decision - so there were a few reasons as to why Reinbacher over Michkov

It's hard to say if they are putting too much emphasis on character. It does only takes one bad apple (like Wheeler) to destroy all team chemistry.

And the losing culture continues to solidify itself

Some noted losing cultures

A lot of people.

Look at that history man, come on. They drafted Barkov in the 2013 draft, meaning it took them 6 years from that draft to consistently make the playoffs.. before that they had been in the playoffs once in the last 13 years. They were in the playoffs twice in a 20 year span.

Honestly, I understand the example, i'm not saying you're wrong

BUT I do always wanna keep things in perspective because half the GMs in the league suddenly decided to give them superstar level players for free for some reason, it's real annoying 😂

as for the other teams you mentioned, they *almost* all have a couple of things in common. They drafted near generational talent and then turned it around

So depressing, more so when you know that there is no guarenteed in the end.

It's all just an important barometer that rebuilds take TIME and there is no way to fast track out of them outside of getting generational talent in drafts.. and even those guys don't guarantee a cup at the end, McDavid and Matthews are still waiting.

This is a rebuild, this is what rebuilds look like.. people need to take a breath and see how things play out. Getting all twisted and bent out of shape and pretty much doomsday when we have only graduated 2 players, to this point, is just missing the forest for the trees.

Rebuilds look fun from the outside because we view them from a macro level.. but when your team is doing a rebuild we are in the micro. Fans are getting pissed at bad shifts or bad plays.. they don't see that happening for all these teams that got out of a rebuild and were successful, they just saw they were bad, saw they made their picks and then paid attention when they were good again.

That answer makes some sense. In game one of the finals last June there was only one player on the ice under 6 ft (Evan Rodriques). It shows that they are paying attention to successful teams in the playoffs.
Then they should’ve traded Caufield and rebuilt with talent

this is not the right thread but we're always gonna circle around to looking at the flipside of that, you're super positive about it but to the point where you refuse to see the outcome where we end up like the sabres or the senators or the red wings

it's entirely possible.

Two days break aka Habs are losing this no-matter what. They have a 0-6-2 record this season when they have a 2 days break between games.

I will never understand that ''people need to take a breath and see how things play out.''

What are we suppose to do here, just talk about how good our propect pool is, every one knows that until proven otherwise they are just prospect

You weren't going to get a Reinbacher by trading Caufield. They did their math and said Michkov + Caufield trade isn't as valuable as Caufield + Reinbacher.

They could be wrong but nobody knows that right now.

It's entirely possible but it is way too early to be overtly concerned about it. We are at a spot in the rebuild where no other rebuild, except the Toronto Maple Leafs, got out of it and were in playoff contention. We saw how getting out of the rebuild too early for the Leafs has panned out for them.

We haven't even had Reinbacher or Demidov play a snap for the Habs yet. This consternation on being the next Sens/Sabres is way too premature.

I will never understand that ''people need to take a breath and see how things play out.''

We can talk about things but put some perspective out there. We don't need to bury Dach and Newhook right away. We don't need to declare ourselves the next Sabres or Sens.

There's a whole lot of way too premature conclusions being drawn here and this negativity that is palpable on the board.

This is what a rebuild looks like. Every rebuild that has ever rebuilded, they look like this. It's a painful process.

We all wanted this but now that a lot of the board got a taste of it, they don't want it anymore. Well, sorry but that's the reality and constantly evaluating everything at a micro level is only going to annoy ourselves.

You don't want to exit a rebuild too early like the Leafs and end up a pretender the whole time without the depth and defense to support the offensive talent.

You don't want to lose for too long and sustained like Sens and Buffalo.

You don't want to get so concerned about losing culture that you go out there and buy a bunch of overpaid FAs like Detroit and end up getting into no-man's land.

There's a bunch of ways to go wrong in a rebuild. Many of them fail. Many of them have to be reset and started again. Gotta accept that it's a painful process before it gets better.
