Add the top pick we’re gonna have this year, Beck, Reinbacher, Hage, Mailloux, Engstrom, Kapanen, Tuch, Florian, and Flames/Panthers 1st this year + a bunch of 2nds and 3rd. Lot of gloom and doom in this fanbase but future is looking bright.

Then you realize BUF had Ristolainen Eichel Reinhart Dahlin Mittlestadt Cozens Power Peterka in their lineup / prospect pool at one point. The future seemed so bright…

Who felt that ? FLA traded for Bennett Tkachuk Reinhart rather than Wittings on their ….

Look at that history man, come on. They drafted Barkov in the 2013 draft, meaning it took them 6 years from that draft to consistently make the playoffs.. before that they had been in the playoffs once in the last 13 years. They were in the playoffs twice in a 20 year span.

Sure, the absolute worst case scenario could happen. As of right now I'm not sure what the point is in thinking about that. We have a great prospect pool and more coming along the way, damn bro just let me have fun. :dd:

Barkov was not the start of their rebuild though Gudbranson was in 2010. They drafted Huberdeau next in 2011 and then extended their window by trading him for Tkachuk.

That 2011-2012 playoffs participation was a total fluke. Their best scorer that year was Thomas Fleischman and their 2nd best Stephen Weiss (both middle six player as far as i'm concerned). It was a crappy team that made the playoffs on the back of top of the class goaltending.

Panthers draft history :

2010 3rd overall Erik Gudbranson
2011 3rd overall Huberdeau
2012 23rd Mike Matheson (the Jose Theodore cinderella run)
2013 2nd overall Barkov
2014 1st overall Ekblad

Their rebuild ended there but they made the playoffs in 2016 only but like you said started to win for real in 2020. Now i hope our rebuild will be faster but anybody expecting result after 3 drafts is out for launch big time.

Florida made the big trade what put them over. Same as Vegas. If either of those clubs don't make that deal they gone early in playoffs

The two youngest teams in the league, Habs became the youngest when Buffalo reclaimed James Reimer. The battle of the (baby) titans.

My understanding is that if not for carrying Price, Habs would have been the youngest team before Buffalo even claimed Reimer, but point taken — both of these teams are really green. 💀

well that seals it. Isn't "expressing faith" in the GM and coach just code for I'm warming up the pink slips and you two clowns should make Uber reservations to get back home? And seriously, since when is the owner weighing in on trades? Pagula should just stay in his lane and let the hockey people do hockey things, no?

Not a chance unless Molson fires Hughes. Hughes will make changes if things don't improve by the deadline.
What I’m really hoping happens internally (if it hasn’t already) is a thorough assessment and stringent performance reviews of all pro and amateur scouting staff, just to ensure they have the right people on board, as Habs management will be looking to make critical moves leading into the summer months. 💀

These ownership endorsements uttered in public, in the sports world, are more often not a kiss of death. If ownership really believed in the management/ players on hand, it would be implicit, it wouldn’t need to be said. 💀
