Hopefully we call up McMann who is destroying it in the ahl.
Steeves and Simmer practicing.
He’s earning a look for sure.

Let's see how this experiment goes, it would guarantee Lily plays though which is nice. He can still use Holl to PK which Keefe loves and Lily for transition/speed etc.
I hope.
He did have the least toi two games ago, and there is an 8th and 9th guy.

I guess they're trying some more stuff out.

Long after Keefe's career is over and he's sitting on his dock in the Muskoka's, drinking a beer and taking in the fresh air he'll be tinkering with his lines.

Holl is valuable in certain scenarios... and I'd think this allows Schenn to play over Gustafsson.

It is interesting, but it also likely means Knies doesn't play.

I think 11/7 is likely to get the D some reps and see who is going to be playing game 1.

I'm not sure what else McMann needs to do to deserve another shot up here, he's murdering the AHL

We have a month of time to kill, might as well see if he fits somewhere in the lineup
McMann-Acciari-Lafferty would be such a perfect 4th line. A true dream come true after seeing some of the shitty 4th lines of the past. I can understand not being thrilled with the likes of ZAR/Holmberg/Steeves to the point of wanting to just run 11 forwards, but McMann is just different and deserves another look

I'm big on Knies, but I think throwing him for the playoffs would be a mistake. He's a kid with not even a pre-season NHL game played yet. Throwing him into the playoffs, the most intense time of year without any sort of experience is asking a lot from him. Maybe i'm in the minority, but i'd prefer if we didn't add him to the playoff roster. I think we are playing phenomenal hockey with our current group and it's a completely different game than the NCAA.

Good thing we can play him in a regular season game against Tampa in the second last game ;)

I was wondering how long it would take for this to come up..... :)

Can't be any worse than with Kerfoot can it......

...... can it???

Having said that, I think McMann stays with the Marlies for a while to get his timing and legs back, even though he seems to be playing like gangbusters right now.

Cheers.

I'm sure it won't happen but it would be neat to see a 7th dman that can switch between D and F in an 11/7 setup. Likely asking too much of that level of player, but I'm thinking Gustafsson playing wing

Hope the Sabres play this team hard. Find the weaknesses and exploit them. Enough of the easy work from teams like the Oilers.

Let’s see…

- Sabres have won 1 game in their last 7
- got drubbed 10-4 two games ago
- fighting but falling out of WC spots
- got hammered for a period against the Leafs and lost in a near comeback last game
- Murray is starting

Naturally this feels like a loss coming

As much as I dislike the 7D thing, giving guys like Gustavsson a look and some game action isn’t too bad given where the Leafs are in the standings

If we know this team, they will lose today and beat the Avs and Canes.

I don't really like the idea of 7D and I think going down to 10 forwards is potentially worse than 5 defensemen if someone gets hurt. But it does make a little sense given our current personnel and I can see Keefe doing it in the playoffs. Gustafsson and Schenn are so extreme in their strengths/weaknesses that they need to be deployed very carefully to be effective.
