Craig Ramsay should get more consideration.

Agreed. I voted for Ramsay before reading the thread, and was a bit surprised to see him getting so little attention.

Perreault was top 10 in scoring 5 times. Vanek never was. There’s a huge difference in their scoring relative to the league. And while Perreault played his 30s in the 80s, his prime was also before that. It was a higher scoring era, but not the highest.

Also agreed on this. Ask someone who watched hockey in the 1970s who the league's top stars were, and Perreault will come up pretty quickly after the obvious superstars are accounted for. Ask the same question of someone who watched hockey in the 2010s and it's going to be a while before they think of Vanek.

Hasek and Perreault are locks. There is no argument against them. If Mt Rushmore was two people we’d be done.

After that you can make arguments but Martin should make it.

Last one more up for grabs. I’d argue Andreychuk but LaFontaine would win

Hasek and Perreault are the no-brainers. It’s really tricky after that and it all depends on what you personally value, but I went with Miller and Andreychuk.

LaFontaine had that epic 1992-1993 season and was awesome in his 57 game first season with Buffalo the year prior, but playing just another 127 games for the franchise, spread out over 4 seasons, takes the shine off quite a bit. I can see why he’s picked and I normally favor the player who played a much higher level than most for only a very short period of time over a player who was merely good for 15-20 years, but when that level is less than 150 games, it’s hard to justify.

It’s also hard not to think of Peca and Satan on those Hasek 90s squads.

May I ask what I am doing that is against the rules?
I apologize. I was just mad Hasek is the only one leading. And I lost my cool on the easy target. I seriously apologize

Outside of Hasek and Perreault, this was very hard to decide on. There's a lot of players that deserved those last two spots but I went with Lafontaine and Miller because they had insane peaks or won an award. Mogilny and Rick Martin were right outside the top 4 tho.

I am too young to appreciate some of those names. I went Hasek, LaFontaine, Mogilny, Housley but I can admit the last two feel weak.

Patty and the Dom are locks though, right?
LaFontaine has no business here, I wouldn’t have retired his # either. He had a great peak season with Mogilny, but he played way too few games here and had little importance in the playoffs. He’s way behind others IMO.

Perrault's numbers aren't really above Vanek's when you account for era. Perrault played in the highest scoring era in league history, Vanek in one of the lowest.

Perreault is widely considered a top 50 player of all-time by people who really know their hockey history. Vanek simply did not have the same caliber of career, especially not when you factor in length of Sabres tenure/importance to the franchise.

Hasek, Perreault, RJ, Ruff as coach. If we were counting non-players, I think this would actually cruise to victory.

The only 2 locks for me are Hasek and Perreault.

I also added Lafontaine and Mogilny, but a bit less sure about those. I like that they both peaked so high, but neither player was there for all that long.

this is how I felt about the 2 locks and then I went with the previous poster in picking Martin then Andreychuk but I feel like Dahlin will replace Big Dave shortly.

Miller has more
Hasek has 6 Vezinas. All won with Buffalo.

Miller has… 1.

Hasek carried them to the Finals, to a triple-overtime game seven that is still this to this day controversial in their loss.

Miller did… what again?

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Hasek IS the greatest netminder for Buffalo and it will never, ever be close.

I don’t think he was arguing that Miller was better, but that his Sabres resume is impressive, including more wins than Hasek. There’s nothing saying there can’t be two goalies in the top 4.
