Glad to see the team get another W but its against the worst team in the league. The good is Kreider still looking great, Lundvquist gets a confidence shutout and had key saves. The bad is for me 2 things. 1 this team has serious shooting issues. We should have at least 4. Miller made some big saves but there was a lot of bad/missed shots. Someone buy the team a corner canvas. 2nd problem I see is in relation to 1 but Stepan seems to really struggle out there, more than anyone with the scoring thing, missing camp is no longer an excuse at this time.

We had 46 shots and buffalo blocked over 20 more

One thing that annoyed me was on the power play Kreider was alone in front of the net and no one gave him the puck. Mdz and stralman had some bad plays on the blue line that were almost disastrous. Pyatt was invisible as usual. Everyone else was solid. Hank only had to make 3 or 4 difficult saves.

There needs to be more objectivity when giving out the three stars of the game. Just because a player was on the losing team doesn't mean they should be excluded.

As good as MZA, Lundqvist and Kreider were, Miller was far and away the best player of the game. Stopped 44 of 46. Could have been a 5-0 win without him in net. Give him a little recognition at least by giving him a star of the game.

And I don't know if I'd have given MZA a star at all, but that's just me.

Team played really well. Did everything right. Lundqvist was sharp in net and made big saves at important time (the one at the end of the 2nd comes to mind). Kreider continues to impress and remind me of that kid that scored game breaking goals in the post season.

We just need to finish more. This fighting tooth and nail to score just 1 or 2 goals is tough to watch sometimes.

I give players a long leash but starting to get sick of Pyatt.

Good win. Happy for Hank.

Also agree on Ryan Miller being player of the game. Without him it would've been 5-0.

glad to see you guys won tonight (you're one of the East teams i really like!). I felt bad that things didn't start great for you but, lol, you're still only 1 pt out of a playoff spot.

I didn't know where to ask this - so hope it's okay i'm asking here. How has JT Miller looked so far and do you think Hank's going to re-sign with you?

Miller had a good game tonight. I like his mentality but he still has a ways to go. Not sure if hank and management are working on a contract yet

Miller has been decent I guess. I'd be shocked if Hank doesn't re-sign. Absolutely shocked. The only way he doesn't come back is if management low balls him.

Keep eating crow.

He's a big reason why Kreider looks good, and that line being so effective. Zucc worked his ass off tonight, and was awarded 1st star. Well deserved.

Congrats to Girardi and Staal on 500 and 400 respectively.

Here's to 500 and 600 more (at a reasonable contract)

sorry for hijacking the thread - but what's your sense of how he projects re team - both in terms of top 6/bottom 6 and wing/centre? (i'm just interested in him b/c i watch a lot of OHL hockey and was impressed by him when he was playing there and also when i saw him in WJC).

Just got back from the game.

First off, the Garden is absolutely amazing. I sat on the bridge and it was spectacular. Loved everything about it.

Maybe it was being in person, but the Rangers were fantastic; better then any other game i've seen this season. Their passing was so slick today.

I thought Miller had his best game as a Ranger tonight. He was all over the place. Kreider excellent again. Only guy that struggled was MDZ; he was a disaster.

What makes me nervous is that if we played a team that doesn't have Steve ****ing Ott on the 1st line, this game goes to OT. Domination is great, but they are horrible at the most important part; actually scoring.

Actually i think both zucc and kreider have helped eachother. although ove rthe last 5 games kreider has been our best player

Tough to say. Like i said he is a very tough kid. Willing to go in teh dirty areas and not afraid to go up against the tougher guys. he needs to work on not turning the puck over. also his offense hasnt shown much yet. in the ahl he was scoring a lot but it hasnt translated in the NHL yet. Only 20 years old so he has plenty of time

When your top two wingers, best goal scorers, heart and soul leader aren't in the lineup, these are the kind of games you need to play.
Who cares if Buffalo is a bottom feeder, we DOMINATED that game. Good God, Miller is amazing, but we still kept it in their zone and didn't let up.
Keep playing like this and the goals will come, especially when Cally and Nash are back.
Love the way Kreider is playing, but he has to realize he's not going to score every game and when a stretch of games comes when he can't find the net, he has to keep playing the way he is. He's abusing people out there, he's engaged, he's skating like we knew he could.
Hope the worst is behind us and the best is yet to come

And only potted 2. You know that number should have been more. I give miller credit but the truth is the team is having problems getting the puck to the back of the net. We were like 0/30 against Budaj, 1/30 on Mason, 2/36 on Holtby and so on. It would be nice to have a comfortable lead every once in a while.

Even though Buffalo is bad they dont quit. I mean if you look at their other games they are mostly close games. In regard to kreider i dont think we have to worry about him not staying engaged. In his first 3 games he had a lot of bad luck not getting a goal especially in detroit and montreal but he didnt play any less which was a good sign

Just got back from the game. Firstly, I have mixed feelings about the renovations. Everything is very aesthetically pleasing and clean which was nice, and there were more bars/food places which made waiting for beer and food almost non-existent. The one thing I wasn't crazy about was the Chase bridge; admittedly my seats were pretty crappy (row 21 in the 200s, so pretty far up there) and the bridge completely obstructs the Gardenvision screen. They put screens on the bridge for you to see which was nice, but I prefer the more open feel that the Garden had before the bridges. I'm sure it's cool to watch the game from the bridges though, need to try that next. For $50 a ticket I can't complain at all about the experience

For the game; my goodness is Buffalo terrible. I mean I know it's by design and that they're rebuilding, but those guys had ZERO battle level. ZERO. We won I would honestly say 90% of loose puck battles just because they looked like they didn't even want to be there. The 46 some-odd shots we had were indicative of that. Kreider, Zucc, Pouliot and Brassard I thought had very strong games. Hagelin as well; for a guy that's not very big he is phenomenal with the puck down low. He completely abuses defensemen with quick cuts and fakes, awesome to watch. The king was the king. Would have liked to see a bit more passing from the boys in the zone, it seemed like they took a ton of perimeter shots into Miller's chest. Overall good win good effort but against teams that aren't dog feces we're probably gonna have to bury another one

NEW YORK – Against an overwhelmed team that looks like it’s already playing out the string, the Rangers did what they had to do in earning their first home win of the season.

It’s only October, but it certainly looks like it’s going to be a torturous season for the Buffalo Sabres (2-12-1), who appeared as if they wanted to be anywhere but Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. They weren’t winning races, they weren’t winning battles, and generally they weren’t competing while getting whitewashed 2-0 by a Rangers team that might just be starting to find its way.

“We talked about giving our fans something to cheer about,†said Ryan McDonagh “We didn’t do that in the home opener, and we wanted to make it stand off our great effort on the Island the other night. Guys kept the energy going, and the momentum. We’re really happy about everybody’s play.â€

It would be nice but so long as they keep playing like this they could have whatever the hell lead they want, so long as it ends up as a W.
