Rumor: Buffalo & NYR having conversations about Trocheck today

Which is the smart move in my eyes. Trocheck is a great player but he's not a superstar and a high end 1C is what Minnesota needs.

Do they? We’ve still Thompson, Doan, Benson, Helenius, Ostlund, Norris, Kulich, McLeod, Zucker, Quinn, and Krebs. Buffalo has no shortage of young forwards ready to step up and eat Tuch’s minutes. D is where I’d have my focus if I was Jarmo.

Tage is moved to wing every time they need to get him going because he’s not really a center. He plays center…but he’s not one and Lindy knows it.

Norris misses at least half the season every year.

McLeod is a disaster in the playoffs now on two different teams

Kulich is a winger who they play at center coming off a missed season for blood clots

Ostlund is probably a center but they played him on wing mostly as a rookie but his frame has seen him miss time at every level so far

Helenius is a center and they probably figured out to play him at center and he has about 12 NHL games under his belt.

They need to acquire a C and draft one at 4

I'd offer 20th + Ryan Johnson + Levi. Not sure I'd go much further, but I'd have to see.

Now, if they wanted to deal Cuylle and Gavrikov.... I'd start making mega offers to get those two.

You’re officially in win now mode!! Congrats. In a trade like this, you’re trading a projection for a certainty of what Trocheck is today. Theres risk on each side, but I don’t think there’s anything to discuss unless one of Kulich or Helenius comes back imo.

Kinda fine with just the #20 and a late pick or something. Ideally I'd want at least some type of player back in the deal as well but I don't know how much BUF values guys like Krebs or Östlund for their future right now.
