JJ Peterka
Ryan McLeod or Alex Tuch (if one is more appealing to trade out for Sabres fans, lmk)

:sabres
Marco Rossi
Jonas Brodin
Riley Heidt or other value balancing piece

Trade breakdown is:
Rossi = Peterka
Brodin+Heidt = McLeod or Tuch

Feel free to comment which side needs to add or if you think it is balanced value wise. I’m a Minnesota fan, so we probably need to add.

General questions:

Are either of McLeod/Tuch available?

What is Peterka looking for on a long term contract?

Bit of an age gap between Brodin and McLeod/Tuch, so I included a prospect to offset the value in age a bit. Let me know if a different prospect works better.

Tuch available unless someone like McDavid us coming back

I'm not moving mcleof now. Hes a center

As for your offer
..

Thus us one sided for Minnesota

Peterka >> Rossi

Buffalo has kulich, ostlund, and helenius as top prispectxenters who would br ahead of thr prosprct you offer

Hell no. Brodin is good but that's not what BUF needs. The premise of a trade is that it should give both teams what they need in some form. That's not the case here.
Build a trade around Byram or Power, e g.

I’m shocked that Buffalo does not need a defensive defenseman. How do you plan on fixing the goals against issue? Buffalo gave up the 3rd (tied with Pittsburgh) most goals per game last year.

He’s not saying we don’t want a good defensive D, he’s saying he’s not interested in getting absolutely hosed in a trade for one.

What would make Peterka+McLeod for Rossi+Brodin+Heidt more fair for the Sabres, in your opinion?

Well, I did list in the proposal that Heidt could be swapped out for another value balancing piece. I also said that I’m a Minnesota fan and that means we likely need to add. I also asked follow up questions to try and gain some insight.

Seems like all three were ignored.

I don't know if I'd do it as a Buffalo fan, but it's hardly a hosing, unless Brodin has fallen into a crack in Lake Superior.

Tuch is not for sale if he wants to re-sign, and I don't know if Heidt is the right sweetener, but I have interest in Rossi and Brodin. I don't easily move on from McLeod and Peterka, but would under the right circumstances.

I think this proposal gets a return phone call.

Calling it an absolute hosing may have been overboard, but I just don’t think you’re going to find appetite in Buffalo to subtract any the few pieces that are working from the roster (unless, in Tuch’s case, he’s already got a foot out the door, in which case he’s either a rental or dictating where he’s traded to). We want more moves like Savoie for McLeod. As an aside, Heidt just does absolutely nothing as a sweetener for me. We have about 3 trillion forward prospects already.

If (and only if) Tuch says that he won't re-sign in Buffalo......I'd do Peterka and Tuch for Rossi and Brodin, but Heidt doesn't move the needle AT ALL for Buffalo as an add-on. We've got PLENTY of those 5'10-6foot types that need to put weight on.

I cannot imagine that we're dealing McLeod after the season he just had....unless, again, he's told the Sabres he won't sign long-term.

The value gap between Peterka and McLeod/Tuch versus Rossi and Brodin is decently sizeable. I think the deal would be more along the lines of Peterka and Quinn for Rossi and Brodin.

I'd be fine with a Rossi/Peterka swap (although there are other targets I would prefer to obtain using Peterka). Given the importance of Tuch and McLeod to Buffalo I don't see a way bridge the gap in a Brodin deal. Sabres have no appetite for prospects and I don't believe the Wild would up the prospect level to overcome that distaste. Best, I think, to keep it simple.

I'd love to simplify the deal around just Brodin.
As for those guys in particular, McLeod I wouldn't say is untouchable because that would be ridiculous, but he fills a significant role in our lineup that we just dont have a replacement for, I'd be surprised if he moves. With Tuch I could see it go either way. He's either happy in WNY and would like to stick around in which case we re-sign him. The other option being he makes it clear he wants to go to a contender and Buffalo facilitates that. Unfortunately there hasn't been a whole lot of information on that front.
