If Faber is scoring 50+ points, Buffalo is adding significantly to Thompson. Faber’s primary function is defensive ability. Scoring 50+ along with that would make him a top 5 dman in the league. Those are never traded for wingers… Even the 40+ goal scoring kind.

I still think calling Thompson purely a winger is hilarious if he stayed healthy two years ago we wouldnt even be talking about a playoff drought anymore since he easily would have put up 50/50 that season and we were only 1 point shirt of the playoffs with him at Center.

Eriksson EK is the stud two way C. He had a down year offensively because he was injured and missed more than half of the year

This is spot on. That said, I have no problem with Thompson at center if he's properly utilized. He's a unicorn with his size/skill combo. If Buffalo gets to a point where their depth at center pushes him to wing then thats a good problem to have. I don't think he's "strictly a wing" though, he's just not a very good defensive player, so I can see shuffling forwards around to account for that.
