Seravalli: Buffalo may not have a choice but to trade Peterka

Leafs fans seem okay with a Carlo/McCann trade if they can find a FA replacement for Carlo (easier said than done, I know).

I’m sure they are. Who wouldn’t wanna trade a 3rd liner and a borderline middle pairing D for a 23yo top line winger? It’s a bad trade for Buffalo even before you think about the fact that we’re making a division rival better and making our path to relevance that much harder.

How much leverage does Buffalo have here because there being all these trade rumors on Byram, Tuch and Peterka suggest these players all want out unless Buffalo overpays them to stay. Reminds me of when all of Reinhart, Eichel, Risto wanted out.

Eichel was a special case and Rhino was one year from UFA. Peterka is an NHL baby. He shouldn't even be asking out after 3 seasons. Buffalo has all the leverage for these players, excluding Tuch.
I don't think that Cirelli is available, while I am pretty sure Rossi is, for the right price. It's been rumored by the Wild beat writer that JJP would be acceptable to MN but Rossi isn't to Adams. No rumors at all about Cirelli and TBL.

Why not give him the fill 8 years?
Was just offers I heard but I would accept the Rossi trade. I just assume no one wants 8 years here. Keep his contract movable.

An 56M deal can make a guy like JJP or Rossi wealthy beyond anything they've experienced before, and would have to be very attractive. In the case of the team, a long term deal in what is a rising cap world can make a deal that seems like an overpay now a bargain in 4-5 years. MN is more than happy with Boldy and JEE's long term deals signed not too long ago.

I don't think Buffalo wants to pay Byram and he wants to go somewhere where he can be on the 1st PP, so he's almost certainly gone. I think there will be a decent enough market for him, but Buffalo is likely going to have to settle for futures. I haven't heard a lot on the Tuch front, other than Adams saying he wants to be here so I'd assume Buffalo will have to overpay him some in order to keep him here and they'll likely do that. Peterka is the real wild card. He may or may not want out. Adams wouldn't respond when he was asked if Peterka asked for a trade, but despite what some of the knuckleheads in these forums think Peterka has very little leverage being an RFA and with Buffalo having multiple years of control over him. So I can see this go multiple different ways. This doesn't really remind me of the Eichel Reinhart situation at all. Those guys were closing in on FA (Reinhart) or the relationship with the club had really gotten toxic (Eichel). I don't think we're at that point with any of these players. Even if some or all of them end up being moved.

IMO Peterka isn't worth more than 7 right now. I tell him 7x5 is your deal or you sign 2-3 years at 5.5 to make yourself easier to be traded/bet on yourself.
Your opinion would be wrong. 70+ point 23 year old on a crap team. Every gm would gamble he can only go up from there with a better surrounding cast and going into his prime years.

Eh. Pegula "signed off" on acquiring EP40's contract last year.
I'm by no means saying it happens, but that's not the best comparison. Back then they needed to convince Vancouver to give them EP40. Much less difficult to convince someone else to "take" Peterka. Also just providing a non-Seravalli source that seems to think this is real

I think Adams non-answer at his presser yesterday already did that; not the details, but the fact that a Peterka trade is being discussed.

No he wasnt. Toronto fans blame him.

No we don't, don't know where you got that idea but it's not true.

A lot of us blame Woll for the bullshit he pulled especially in game 3.

A LOT of people blame Marner because once you get past game 3 in a series he doesn't show up.

There is a reason very few people are upset he's leaving.

Carlo? That's not real.
